The Great Gatsby OST

The soundtrack isn't really connected to the theme especially with too many rap tracks (even in the movie) on and off and constantly kick into the 1920's era. We expected more jazzy tune with a hint or two nostalgia mood when the play button is pressed. Yes, we did have one and <Crazy in Love> by Emeli Sande and The Bryan Ferry Orchestra is exactly what we after in this soundtrack. Unfortunately, from flappers to rappers, thanks to rapper Jay-Z and the persistence of  Baz Luhrmann in producing this hip-hop inspired soundtrack to convey the excitement of the jazz-age to the modern audiences. If the film can be seriously produced in an intense epic mood, Luhrmann did well in both of his film and soundtrack in <Moulin Rouge> & <Romeo + Juliet> with a modern twist and why can't the soundtrack be done to compliment each other? There is no doubt that Luhrmann wanted a blend and a weave of the old and the present but the present still has plenty to offer.
Lana Del Rey's <Young and Beautiful> splashed in grandly and unleashed the tighten heart with her almost never ending chorus to a delight. There is so much connection to the character of Daisy that falls in beautifully to the theme. Del Rey's soulful vocal is the emotional high point to this album. When we first heard it from the movie, that identical voice already moved us and create the urge for wanting to listen to the entire soundtrack but sadly not everything works, the soundtrack was simply too diversify and we couldn't find the balance in connection to the film and but with clustered irritation.
