Mariah Carey @ Me. I Am Mariah...The Elusive Chanteuse

Mariah Carey <Me. I Am Mariah...The Elusive Chanteuse> marks the first original studio release in five years and also her 13th album for the R&B/pop singer features guests appearance from Fabolous, Migual, Nas, Wale and her twins. After two decades of almost uninterrupted chart dominance, Carey's back to adding her sparkly touch to the summer-ready pop tunes. It took her five years for this latest LP's by learning from her disastrous album <Memoir of An Imperfect Angel> is 2009. At least, this is not an album that sounds desperate, it sounds exactly like her by acknowledging her place in the pop ecosystem. Miguel-powered the pre-released single <Beautiful> to a safe and classic R&B melody, boosted by a looming backbeat. <You Just Don't Know What To Do> featuring Wale with the piano instrumental makes a beautiful intro to the track, a throwback disco gem as well as <Meteorite>. Despite the album features a couple of the gospel-inflected power ballads like <Cry>, <Camouflage>, hip-hop and old-school soul, the overall rundown is rather flat and and safe, she doesn't infuse much surprise in any attempts. She sings well but most of the time over-sing a song and become quite annoying or at least she places herself back to her rightful place. The long album title <Me. I Am Mariah...The Elusive Chanteuse> may generates a lots of questions, in fact, it is rather hilarious album title worthy of immortality and little pathetic.
