Fratelli Rossetti @ SS2013 Collection

Fratelli Rossetti celebrating its 60th year in 2013 presents a collection that masterfully blends the brand’s heritage with reinvigorated concepts. The SS2013 Men collection <Summer Brera> is the new version of the legendary tasselled loafer. More lightweight than its predecessor, it carries the traditional feature of the Brera: the tassels which Renzo Rossetti made its mark in the history of Italian clothing in the 1960s. Lightened volumes, the absence of a welt and a thinner sole define this new model, which has maintained its key distinguishing feature: the legendary tassels with which Renzo Rossetti wrote an important page in the history of Italian costume. The most interesting ones include hand-brushed calfskin, involving a technique that highlights the natural light and dark patches of the leather. It will be available in dark brown, anthracite, yellow and green. Also of note is the version in soft nappa processed with the Toledo technique, which involves applying the colour directly onto the uppers. The “Toledo” colours include grape, ottanium and ruby.

Another important feature in the collection is <weaving>, which makes a comeback with a pattern that is hand-worked directly on the shoe, appearing on the toe, on the sole or in the band of the loafer. A new concept is weaving done on batik leather. With its hand-painted finish, it creates an unexpected modern look.

Already a hit in the winter season, the <All-Over> line returns in a summer version, with the shoes hand painted from the upper to the sole. With a range of bright and lively colours, all hand-brushed by Fratelli Rossetti’s master craftsmen, the same hues are rendered on the shoes to achieve total tonality.

The Women collection is a romantic dreamer: Lace takes centre stage in the collection, and is used on the Brera tasselled moccasin, an icon of Fratelli Rossetti. The range includes thong sandals, sandals and Oxford lace-ups.

Reference is made to embroideries from days-gone-by, with the graphics reworked with a balanced study of floral and geometric motifs, and perforations. The perforation and pierced effects ensure the collection is light and mellow. It makes a statement about the ideal woman who is elegant and sophisticated, but still enjoys having fun with her own sensuality.
