TOM FORD FW2015 Women Collection

TOM FORD FW2015 Women Collection presents a bohemian vision of the confident, urban woman. The collection has echoes of edgy, mid-seventies minimalism and a sexy take on vintage California cool. There is an abundance of covetable daywear. Denim gets an ultra-luxe twist: Curve-hugging pencil skirts and opulent jeans merge denim tops with vibrant, hand-appliquéd color blocking, or panels of ocelot fur.

The look is a nod to 1970's patchwork leather, but reimagined in a clean, sumptuous, modern way. Inspired by seventies’ gypsy and peasant tops but tailored in black to sophisticated perfection, this new look combines assertive femininity with a carefree spirit. Denim is also revamped in a patchwork jacket made of indigo fur. The patchwork look becomes a head-turning fur coat comprised of shades of brown and cream.Ultra-wearable pencil skirts, made of bands of earth- and metallic-toned macramé, also capture California’s handcrafted, bohemian ease. A jet-black version of the macramé skirt is worn with a delicate, pleated leopard-print blouse or a slinky, cashmere-and-fur sweater.

This collection also introduces army-green pencil skirts and riding pants.Ravishing jackets for day revamp casual silhouettes like hooded parkas and shearlings from extraordinarily luxe materials, creating dynamic contrast with the sexy skirts and the collection’s new strappy heels, made from color-blocked panels of metallic leather. Leather and fur are fused in artisanal ways: a hooded parka is made from chevron-patterned fur and finished with black leather edging reminiscent of Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Black or blush-white tiered, long sleeve dresses with the fitted-bodice top, worn with glossy, calf hair- and-leather-band boots, suggest a new silhouette that is romantic, timelessly chic and a fresh way to express femininity for Fall. Fringed, tiered skirts and dresses also capture the romantic Western feel; a white leather dress made of tiers of fringing is audacious and understated at once. Black crepe day dresses with plunging necklines are wardrobe mainstays.

For evening, long and narrow silhouettes reveal new erogenous zones. Superbly cut, black jersey gowns conceal and reveal the body with classic restraint where shoulders become the sexy highlight. Black evening gowns use the effortlessly chic, narrow silhouette to make a new statement of elegance. Several delectable materials including sheer mesh, intricate embellishment, velvet, fringing, sequins, touches of fur, create layers of contrast that demand to be touched and photographed.

They are unforgettably seductive, yet keep a sense of mystery and restraint. The vibrant, color-blocked skirt returns for nightfall in floor-length versions made from tactile velvet in dazzling shades. Show-stopping evening gowns touched with sequins take the modernist color-play further. With their undulating patterns and seductively low necklines, they suggest the woman whose party invites are the most coveted in town.

Accessories for this season also capture the Americana and bohemian spirit. They include a parade of must-have boots, some with color-blocked heels; oversized, knot-work necklaces, fringed, shoulder-dusting earrings and beautifully crocheted bags that take the macramé theme into desirable new ground. The feather necklaces and earrings in the collection were designed by one of Ford’s muses, Lisa Eisner, a collaboration that began in SS2015.
