TOMMY HILFIGER @ Rock The Love Spring 2015

TOMMY HILFIGER held a Rock The Love Spring party event to kick off its Men and Women SS2015 collection in Hong Kong recently. The Menswear collection, Heartland, finds its inspiration in Middle America, where the great outdoors mix with small town charm in some of the most picturesque and interesting places the country has to offer. This exploration of America’s midland embraces the outdoors to the fullest, resulting in surplus, utility, maritime and military influences combined with our signature preppy twist. It’s colorful, laidback, cool and authentic Americana.

The adventure begins in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, a popular holiday destination that inspires the first fashion group, Out on the Lake. The key aesthetic exudes a relaxed, summertime feel that’s casual but sophisticated. The brand’s signature color palette : red, white and blue appears prominently and is accented by pops of dazzling blue and sunglow yellow. Influenced by the nautical lifestyle, a stripe story is featured throughout, from button-down shirts and sweaters to chinos and lightweight jackets with block stripes. Sporty nylon jackets effortlessly layer over chunky knit fisherman’s sweaters or an array of trousers in shades of blue. Exaggerated geo prints and napa fabrics add a lively touch. Heading south to Marfa, Texas, the next stop is In the Middle of the Desert. Military styles heavily influence this fashion group, from jackets and shirts with epaulette details, to over-badged cargo pants with knee patches. Key neutral tones are batique khaki, taupe olive and Lincoln olive, while fresh accents of neon coral add an unexpected twist. Garment dyed sweaters feature woven details, while suede and leather are integrated in blazers and jackets. Camouflage print shorts emphasize the utilitarian aesthetic, as does a lightweight army green anorak.

The final stop on this all-American road trip is in Denver, Colorado, where we Gather at an Urban Farm as rural life meets urban modernity. Styles exude big city sophistication with a casual small town twist; tailored textured blazers can be paired with structured sweatpants, while dark denim teams effortlessly with lightweight nylon jackets. A sartorial aesthetic is further seen in bleached indigo polos, linen trousers, jerseys and garment-dyed t-shirts. Color tones are inspired by sandy brown farm houses juxtaposed against blue sky backdrops; vintage indigo, quarry grey, apple cinnamon and Tuscan tan are primary tones, while indigo and khaki also feature prominently. The look is light, clean, sartorial and chic.

The adventure begins in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, a popular holiday destination that inspires the first fashion group, Out on the Lake. “New nautical” is the key aesthetic, seen in preppy stripes, checks and polka dot prints. The look is modernized with contrasting stripe sizes and a mix of bi-tonal print combinations, from mini foulards to polka dots. The Tommy Hilfiger brand’s signature red, white and blue color combination is reworked in shades of dazzling blue, ski patrol red and snow white, while bright pink tones add an unexpected pop. Maritime-inspired sports gear includes new parka silhouettes, cotton/linen sweaters and jersey/woven mixes. Minimalist silhouettes are the must-have look, including clean denim, sleek chiffon and delicate silk tops.

Heading south to Marfa, Texas, the next stop is In the Middle of the Desert, where the aesthetic is tailored, feminine and sleek. Sandy tones inspire a palette of frosted almond, pebble and dark taupe, offset by neon and metallic accents. Textured fabrics, tonal embroidery and linen blends appear on versatile dresses, skirts and unlined jackets, while organic cottons pair effortlessly with jacquard fabrics, eyelet and garment dyes. Mix-and-match combinations are seen throughout: woven and jersey, matte and metallic, washed and monochrome. The season’s signature Marfa camouflage print  in subtle pastel greys is also subtly integrated into outerwear, swimwear, pants, shirts and linings.

The final stop on this all-American road trip is in Denver, Colorado, where we Gather at an Urban Farm as rural life meets urban modernity. Rough hemlines are offset by feminine silk tops, while hand-crafted embroidery juxtaposes sleek solids. The countryside’s clear blue lakes and skies trigger an indigo moment, seen in denim and chambray with various cold dye and washed treatments; the statement look combines mixed indigo shades with chevron prints. Big city sophistication inspires sartorial workwear with washed silk and tonal prints, while the military aesthetic influences patchwork details, khaki tones and army green accents.
