ETRO AW2016 Ad Campaign

ETRO AW2016 Ad Campaign taken by famed photographer Mikael Jansson in Bosco del Sasseto showcases the connection between apparel and nature. A breeze passes through the trees, moving towards the light; the rustling of leaves punctuate the stillness, exuding the vital essence that is both born of and created in Nature. A call back to nature at the core of the Etro AW2016/17 collection embodies this reflective and powerful atmosphere that binds man to the universe, allowing one to search for their utopia.

Prints used in the AW2016 Womenswear Collection are an ode to Etro’s famous Paisley, yet have been urbanized with oversized bold checks and micro florals to create new blanket motifs. Dragons, tigers and kimono prints add a touch of exotica on prints. Patterns are refracted through an intense palette of purple, china blue, a full range of sultry reds and earth tones, while black sweeps the sweetness away. ETRO’s latest collection allows dreamers to rediscover the House’s original energy.

A call back to Nature echoes Etro’s original roots in ETRO’s AW2016 Menswear Collection. Supremely crafted cashmeres, fuzzy mohair wools, glowing jacquards and silky wools are unfurled with a renewed urgency. Traditional patterns such as plaids, checks and bold stripes are old-school masculine, even preppy, but newly calibrated with a bucolic mood. There is not a tie in sight. Jacket trims are subtly tattered, pockets are cut like oversized work wear, frayed edges on cashmere sweaters are masterfully created with looms, not scissors.

Nature has unlocked wide open spaces, full of possibility, where one can disconnect and yet fully connect to a hidden sort of bliss. One touch of Nature makes the whole world kin.” William Shakespeare
