FENDI SS2013 @ Hong Kong Fashion Show

FENDI held a SS2013 fashion show in Hong Kong recently bringing the stage from Milan showcasing the last men & women collection. The women collection is colorful and explosive, offering an unusual style with 3D effects and a rich palette, Inspired by Cubism and Bauhaus, the collection showcases a feminine, lively glamour with bold designers, while smooth, multilevel and lithe silhouettes from architectural ideas elegantly unfold a balanced beauty.

Vividness for the season is outlined through structures and contours focusing on rounded and caped shoulders, Classical yet surprising, new elements including tri-dimensional silhouettes, geometric shapes and contrasting color blocks depict sculptural lines, through which Karl Largefeld endues the SS13 women's collection with artistic and architectural beauty.
Another highlight for the season is a combination of multicolor spliced leather and the seamless integration technology, making leathers such as crocodile nappa even lighter and softer. This season, to bring FENDI's all-time emphasis - proportionality, into full pay, designers have emploued the tenacious material of diving suit as the liner under the soft lambskin to create rigid silhouettes, offering a whole new definition of the female charm.
Marquetry of fur, taffetas, wetsuit material couple leathers, weightless crocodile nappa, tiled top knitwear, technical double crepe silk, three-dimensional metallic sequin embroidery, exploding prints...all these perfectly embody the season;s charming, impressive geometric theme. Like painting, the balance of a rich palette creates a vague, gentle femininity with soft pastel colors such as silk, pastel blue, yellow, orange and poppy red. Baguette, Peekaboo and 2Jours- the most popular and timeless shapes of FENDI and renewed with an amazing craftsmanship astonishingly resets and reinforces FENDI's iconic handbags.

Details of the accessories are also filled with surprises. A dice-like perspective small square handbag, a unique Baguette Tote bag, 3D tapered metallic high heels, together with pentagonal sunglasses of architectural beauty infuse the entire collection with perfect unity and fully express the limitless creativity of the designers.
The men's collection is an obsessive multiplication. Cloning. Duplication. A vision of the future that is dry, fast, efficient and edited down to the cleanest form. Clothing suited for an urban exploration as well as for an interstellar mission. The modular wardrobe of the connected man who is constantly online: suits that multiply in the repetition of orderly patterns; shirts with punched-card detailing; zip-up blousons, slim pants; a perforated suit; a damier eel t-shirt; shorts; the active tuxedo. The idea of the uniform recurs, as a way to highlight the individual while actually erasing him. The act of dressing that becomes almost automatic, logic, if slightly off-kilter. Geometric prints, repetitive jacquards, obsessive micro-patterns create a sense of friction, a visual tension.
The future gets connected with a rooted past. The organic and the man-made cohabit: crocodile, eel, and leather, and then silk nylon, technical materials, cotton. Fabrics are firm, crisp, and compact to the touch.  The color palette is equally dicothomic: cold hues of white and pearl grey, dense notes of tobacco and brown, deep shades of blue. The connected man needs something that answers a need responding to a function.  Small cube bags and camera bags are double, the sum of parts being highlighted by different colors.  There is a place for everything and an accessory for it: laptop cases, briefcases, phone holders. Backpacks, perforated totes, boot-sandals with a transparent sole carry the same functional tone.
