HKT Launches Tap & Go

HKT Payment Ltd launches Tap & Go that enables customers to use their NFC mobile phones to make payments at more than three million MasterCard® PayPass™ merchant locations worldwide as well as for online purchases recently. Tap & Go is embedded in an NFC-based all-in-one SIM card. You can transfer money instantly to your family and friends who also have Tap & Go accounts via the peer-to-peer mode. You can easily top up their accounts by up to HK$10,000 per day to facilitate large transactions of up to HK$1,000 in stores, which is the highest among similar payment services in the market at presentTogether with the “always-on” capabilty, payment in stores can be as simple as  tapping their smartphones on PayPass contactless readers. Instant money transfers (i.e. peer-to-peer money transfer) between individual Tap & Go accounts are also available via the smartphone app. Using the “PayBuddy” function, customers can send or receive money by tapping their smartphones, or even remotely via phone-to-phone connection. Both sender and recipient will receive a confirmation message once the transaction has been completed. Customers can also review their past three months’ transaction history anytime, anywhere via the Tap & Go app for tracking and control purposes. The transactions are currently settled in Hong Kong dollars, and foreign currency transactions will be enabled in due course. Tap & Go will also bring customers endless dining and shopping privileges.
