Tommy Hilfiger Denim SS2016 collection

Tommy Hilfiger Denim SS2016 collection is inspired by a unique twist on the classic “island hopping” holiday: the adventure treks across the United States, from the laidback West Coast to the bustling streets of New York City. The signature look is urban meets outdoors, city meets country; the lifestyle is wild and free. This season, denim gets an authentic twist with vintage influences, sporty details and distressed finishes. For women, the key styles are clean and sophisticated with color blocking, pre-wash paneling and new patchwork details. Taking cue from California’s laidback lifestyle, the collection features rip and repair, tie-dye and washed out distressing. The boyfriend fit is a must-have in both full-length jeans and denim shorts, while the oversized denim jacket exudes an effortless sense of West Coast cool.

For men, tailored indigo, Japanese denim shirting, rip and repair finishes, denim blazers, and denim bow ties bring a sophisticated twist to classic denim dressing. Outerwear is key for both men and women, from pea coats, denim trenches and safari jackets to field jackets, bonded waterproof parkas and quilted indigo denim. Tommy Hilfiger Denim is pleased to introduce Dynamic Stretch – an evolution in the world of denim. Featuring an innovative 80 per cent stretch factor, the high recovery fabric boasts an incredible level of movability and comfort. The Dynamic Stretch range features a skinny fit for women, and skinny and slim fits for men, with each style available in five different washes. Equipped with super-stretch capabilities, the material also maintains the appearance of genuine denim.

West Coast Isle finds inspiration in the California coastline. For women the look is easy, weathered and relaxed, while simultaneously sophisticated and clean. Classics are given a modern twist with new stripes, simple silhouettes and washed-out, faded colors. Looser, more voluminous tops and dresses are a key statement with printed, fleece and knitted looks. Layering is the style of the season, especially in outerwear with buttonless cardigans, oversized sweaters, long fleece coats and traditional trenches redone in denim. For men, nylon accents, soft washes and utility details are inspired by a sense of West Coast adventure. The fishtail parka gets a technical twist, while cotton overcoats and peacoats receive a crisp treatment finish. The signature color is indigo, seen in lightweight and heavyweight knits, patchwork bombers and coated parkas.

The next stop on the tour is Urban Isle, when the road trip makes a stop in New York City. Iconic East Coast classics are given an urban twist with distressed details and athletic touches. For women, neoprene appears in coats, bomber jackets and duffles; abstract prints and engineered stripes are seen on shirts and sweaters; and the must-have maxi dress features athletic-inspired rib details.

The look is Brooklyn cool as traditional pieces are mixed in fresh new ways: shirt-dresses are worn with trainers, and varsity jackets pair effortlessly with denim shorts. For men, technical nylon and heavyweight knits boast a leisurely, athletic feel. It’s all about cool, relaxed comfort with linen shirts, soft-hand fabrics and cotton draping, while new silhouettes create longer lengths and curved hemlines. For chilly weather, we’ll see heavyweight knits with mesh sleeves, crossover lined fleece and a baseball jacket in a fleece-fabric hybrid.
