TEA WG Salon & Boutique @ It Is Not Only About Tea

You may be familiar with the luxury tea brand TEA WG, but little did you know that their All Day Dining menu will knock your socks off. This Singapore origin major tea trading post in the past is not only about tea but to bring the lifestyle and wellbeing with tea drinking tradition into the modern days. By mylifestylenews.

When someone mentioned to you TEA WG,first thing hits in your mind is that a tea house serving mostly afternoon tea with the three tiers tea set and colorful dessert waiting to be picked up behind the counter or without any proper a la minute hearty warm cook meals. From now on, you may want to look at TEA WG in a different way. Originated in Singapore, TEA WG stands for The Wellbeing Group and they have cornered the Asian market with gorgeously designed tea salons and now with their most inviting and carefully crafted menu that provides some serious food options beyond the expected cup of tasty and exotic tea.

The charming wood paneled room creates a touch of old world ambience that hints at an elegance  “Colonial” of yesteryear when the history of tea trading was at its peak. Huge comfortable arm chairs to relax in and forget the cares of today and the starched napkins add a touch of class too. It is clear that they want to be renowned for their excellent food as much as being a veritable tea institution.

At the forefront of tea gastronomy, the menu truly invites you to savour a creative selection of tea-infused cuisines at any time of the day. The idea behind such an inspiration is that they want the food to complement their vast collection of over eight hundred fine harvest teas and exclusive blends – YES! That’s right, over eight hundred.

On close examination of the food menu, you’ll realize that every dish has integrated teas into the recipe to create that precious connection and to impart a unique flavor, tantalize your taste buds and palate while introducing a whole new world of taste sensations on the tea table.

This creative invention establishes a point of difference that you may not be expecting, but then again, beyond their teas, cakes and macaroons, there are lots of hidden delights to discover.

The menu selection enables you to dine whenever suits you, rather than be forced to join the hordes during peak hours, so you can go when the mood takes you. The menu is extensive enough to push all the requisite buttons on the taste palate and we were hard pressed to narrow our choice to not over indulge by the superbly executed and presented dishes, but in the end our eyes were bigger than our stomachs.

<TEA WG SALAD>
This is a mesclun salad with foie gras, smoked salmon, marinated scallops, cherry tomatoes and polenta cubes infused with Love Me Tea, served with an 1837 Green Tea infused vinaigrette. The foie gras is quite substantial and the deep-fried polenta is the perfect accompaniment. The marinated scallops are served cold, but nicely done with a smoky flavor accompanied by the fresh caviar. A great mélange of flavours that meld together beautifully.

<HONEY CAJUN CHICKEN SALAD>
Romaine lettuce with shaved parmesan is tossed in a Lemon Bush Tea infused vinaigrette, accompanied by grilled honey Cajun chicken, served with cherry tomatoes, cucumber slices and quail eggs. This was a much larger portion than we anticipated, with great flavor from the tender and juicy chicken as well as the crunchy sweet romaine lettuce. A la minute preparation always wow when it is done right.

<SOUP OF THE DAY – Lobster Bisque>
Rich in flavor with a great colour that had a certain kick of palette to liven up proceedings, but the main event is the lobster flavor with generous chunks of sweet meat that reeked of quality.

<WAGYU SHORT RIB>
This braised Wagyu beef short rib is served with pumpkin mash, French beans and a Burgundy red wine sauce infused with Chocolate Tea. A classic well cooked short ribs with a twist and take it from us, the chocolate sauce is a match for the rich meat.

<HONEY CHICKEN BREAST>
A seared chicken breast is accompanied by chicken liver glazed with sherry and herbs, served with honey bean, duck speck, cashews and drizzled with a Honey Tea infused sauce. This is a  rich and delectable dish with a great kind of complexity round up the taste bud. A must order!

<TENDERLOIN SURF ‘N’ TURF>
Roasted Black Angus beef tenderloin comes with cubed potato beignets and stir-fried lobster with zucchini balls, served with a red wine sauce infused with Pu-Erh Prestige. What an all-round winner and a highlight of our lunch – it was difficult to choose between the lobster and the beef with both oozing perfection.

<SINGAPORE SURPRISE>
This is a lighter style of crème brulee with a base of diced wild strawberries and a lightly burnt crust. This is a joy to eat, as it is not too heavy or too sweet with a dash of bourbon infused tea as a base note, and the strawberries do add a tartness to cut through the richness of the ingredients. This is the tour de force to end a stunning meal. Also, each TEA WG outlet will only be allocated one full round pie everyday and order is on a first come first serve basis.

With such new discovery in TEA WG, it is wonderful that an element of tea culture is added to every menu item. Such creative approach to what is in essence a very classically constructed menu offer is one of the best ways to spend a lazy afternoon with an alcohol free experience and tea pairing a la minute meals. Hats off to them for this, we say!
