Le Méridien Kuala Lumpur @ Destination Unlocked

Staying at the Le Méridien Kuala Lumpur is all about location and connectivity to transportation, and its position truly helps you to unlock this destination especially when you are here for business & meetings. Yet, it awakens your senses with some stimulating experiences, inspired cuisine and moments of discovery. By mylifestylenews.

Being strategically located at Kuala Lumpur Sentral, the nation’s transportation hub, it is easily accessible through a network of integrated rail connections including the LRT, Monorail and KTM trains, plus giving you great access to and from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) via the KLIA Express – the shortest time to commute between the airport and the city by this train.

We arrived rather late in the evening from our international flight and we had been confirmed in the Le Méridien Club Room and upon arrival. The main lobby is a very open and interactive space that is engaging, as it provides guests and locals alike a space to foster ideas and promote conversations through social and business gatherings with a modern and contemporary furniture design.

Known as Le Méridien HUB, this lobby arrival experience and coffee culture has a mix of seating arrangements and styles, with high and low communal tables for you to choose from, complemented with electronic devices for power point presentations.

After a speedy check-in to get our room sorted in order for us to have sufficient time left from the remaining day for our dinner arrangement at Latest Recipe, the hotel all-day-dining restaurant. We raced up stair before the buffet close and things took a strange and unexpected turn. It was a full house and the buffet replenishment has come to an end.

Early birds get its worms and fair enough but the Restaurant Manager was quite accommodating, instead of squeezing us in the short time and we might interrupting the staff for the buffet clearance, he instantly suggested us to head up to the Club Lounge and order anything we want from the designated menu, of course, with his permission and authorization.

We were surprised and delighted by his suggestion, as the Club Lounge was so quiet and pleasant. This newly renovated club lounge location on the 33rd floor was so much more comfortable. Now that we weren’t seeking for a buffet dinner and being very well looked after to end our day with some comfort food to enjoy.

Lounging at the newly refurbished Le Méridien Club Lounge on level 33 is one of the highlights of our stay. Reinterpreted to impress, this is one of the most stylish Club lounge we have experienced in a long while. Having a face-lift and upgrade in a hotel always rattles the competition and they got this so right!

The design and fit-out is very posh and graceful, with a Danish retro accent in the furniture selection and the floor-to-ceiling glass windows exuding a feeling of airiness and allow a panoramic view of Kuala Lumpur skyline that creates the whole atmosphere just made you say ‘WOW’.

There is an open kitchen concept complete with live cooking stations; a private meeting room, lounge seating with elegantly mixed seating choices; a computer/printer area for your urgent working convenience; and comfortable shower rooms if you need to check out of your room but not yet ready to depart the hotel.

The discovery of different cuisines is a daily occurrence when you visit this club lounge. Each evening, it showcases a specialty dish from one of the restaurants in the hotel focusing on luxury and the ultimate indulgence for guests, there are also wine and beer dispensers readily available for self-service, along with classic spirits and mixers at the beverage counter to create your own unique concoctions.

Mornings are also invigorated with chefs at hand to prepare personalized eggs, waffles, or noodles in soup, the options are very comprehensive and covered all needs in the best possible way.

Our 32 sqm corner room on the club floor is rather stylish but was not huge, yet more than adequate to accommodate and ideal for light travelers. The contemporary chic design and colour tone was just the right tonic to unwind after a long journey. The soothing palettes used encompass a dark grey carpet and wall accent colour, offset with white and some graphic wallpaper above the bedhead and minibar, with blue as a prominent highlight. This certainly enhanced the room and along with the silk drapes that open up to panoramic views of the surrounding bustling Kuala Lumpur city scape provided a sense of space and comfort. Despite the work desk area a little cramped, the room provided all the basic needs a business luxury hotel shall have to offer.  What worth mention is the bed is heavenly and a vision of white goose-down duvet which most definitely gave you a luxurious night’s sleep.

The grey veined white marble bathroom with a separate bathtub is rather compact in size, particularly the shower bay and toilet area. As this is a corner room, so the shape of the bathroom was a little unusual that perhaps resulted in some compression of space to fit all the expected inclusions in. Other than that, the amenities ticked all the boxes including the makeup/shaving mirror which is essential to some.

For fun and relaxation, you can enjoy the city’s largest 120 metres free-from swimming pool located on the 8th floor with water fall, a water slide and unique sun chairs partly immersed in water, truly family oriented. The new Pool Bar & Grill @ 8 is delightful to sit in under cover for some signature house snacks.

There has been a global expansion of design-focused tech-savvy hotels and choosing a place to stay has gotten harder than ever as so many of them sound the same and look the same and promise the same amenities. All these lifestyle hotels which generally mean a sense of style at a reasonable price at strategic locations, Le Méridien Kuala Lumpur could be your next inspiration.
