TOM FORD SS2015 Womenswear Collection has a mood of rock-inspired sensuality with a daring edge. With a knowing nod to the looks that made his name in the 1990s, Tom Ford presents his contemporary vision of “sexy”. Provocative, statement pieces are mixed with a wardrobe of chic and urbane jackets, trouser suits, skirts and tops that dress the confident TOM FORD woman for day and night.Silhouettes are long and lean and there is plenty of black, mixed with smoked greens, gold, and white.
Spring’s new high-waisted, flared trouser is cut to enhance the length of the leg. It is paired with a striking new footwear shape, a high and chunky platform sandal or the new TOM FORD wedge-soled clog that defines the look with sexy strength. These trousers are cut from suede, velvet or a tuxedo-like wool and silk blend, as well as green-black lurex and pink-black camouflage jacquard.
They are worn with long-sleeved, sequined tops in green or coffee brown for a rock-and-roll look, or with a fitted jacket over a sheer, chiffon top for an elegant feel with an unmistakable edge.The boxy, cropped jacket is another wardrobe must-have for Spring.
In black wool and raffia, it can be worn with the high-waisted trouser or with a head-turning slit skirt that is ultra-short or ankle-length and slashed to the thigh. For evening, it is a dazzling, silver leather “chain mail” jacket finished with signature TOM FORD turn lock buttons.Daytime dresses include wearable mini tunics with plunging necklines and a lacquered cotton mesh dress paired with a very sophisticated wool coat piped in leather.
For cocktail, the collection includes high-octane yet eminently wearable long-sleeved mini-dresses. One version gleams with complete coverage of silver leather chain mail. Another glows in pure white jersey with circular cutouts at the hip. A sequined gold version is presented with stunning, Native American-inspired jewelry created by Tom Ford’s longtime friend and muse, Lisa Eisner.
Eveningwear turns subversively seductive. A transparent, black chiffon top sewn with black sequin bondage bands is paired with sequin jersey leggings. A super short, gold-sequined slip dress with sheer, mesh sleeves features metallic ornamentation on the bust. Floor-length, sheer black gowns are constructed with leather or sequined harness tops or satin bra cups and adorned with a scattering of chiffon appliqué petals.
These risqué dresses, inspired in part by art films of the 1960s, reflect Tom Ford’s fascination with the tension between fashion and sexuality. They dare a woman to play with
an “almost nude” look and celebrate her body, and her love of fashion, in a thrilling new way.
