The Swank @ Living Gallery at Pacific lace

THE SWANK unveiled their new concept store at Pacific Place recently with the “Living Gallery” concept, conceived for the HarbourCity store in 2011, which has been updated and implemented at the Pacific Place location. The store concept and design aims to create an inviting atmosphere and unique customer experience that ultimately showcases the merchandise as the main attraction. The 4,360 sq ft store, located on Level 2 of the luxury shopping centre, includes new elements such as timber feature walls; metal and timber diaphragms behind the front window display to control visibility; backlit glass signage and dispersed seating elements to create a more dynamic, relaxed and personal space.
In celebration of their new concept store at Pacific Place, THE SWANK invited two talented homebred artists to create installation works themed “Natural Metamorphosis”. Florian Ma's brainchild, "Mutual Generation", draws inspirations from the Chinese Five Elements "Wu Xing ~ Earth, Water, Fire, Wood, Metal". Characterized by colourful and explosive patterns, these creations consist of bent glass tubes and luminous neon lights. They epitomize the mysterious correlations of the cosmic fundamentals; which metaphorically echo the incessant evolution of fashion trends.
In sharp contrast to Ma's work, Christine Ng's work, “Happy Forever”, is a response to the ever-changing or evolving natural landscape of Hong Kong. The collection of photos on the small cubes, depicting nature in its seemingly “purest” form, recomposes into multiple windows of an idyllic and paradisiacal world. The patterns of dots, like nature, are rich in colours and details, creating a space for pause and reflection.
Exhibition ends 21st October 2012.
