Quiksilver x Subcrew SS2014 Collection inspired by the ocean, surfing, sharks and submarines Quiksilver, the world’s leading surf and outdoor sports lifestyle brand, and Subcrew, the renowned streetwear brand, share a common bond with the ocean. This unique affinity comes of age in their first ocean-themed crossover collaboration: the “Quiksilver x Subcrew 2014” collection, launching in mid-April 2014 in Hong Kong and China.
To mark the occasion, the Pop-Up Store was launched on April 10, 2014, at Shop C, 32-34 Tai Ping Shan Street, Sheung Wan. The space, open only until May 25, 2014, will feature a black submarine bursting out from the rocky ground.
Drawing inspiration from the iconic elements of each brand including the “Mountain and Wave” logo that epitomizes Quiksilver’s brand spirit, and the Shark trademark and submarine motif of Subcrew : the 32-piece collection also features digitized “1969” (the founding year of Quiksilver) and “We are the Subcrew” (WATSC) patterns to enrich the collaboration with distinctive personality and substance and of course, the Quiksilver x Subcrew Special Edition Surfboard.
Key highlights are the limited-edition boardshorts: the 4-way Stretch Diamond Dobby made with Quiksilver’s patented product technology, using functional materials that enhance extreme flexibility, tough wearability and overall comfort. Also, there are brand new first-released items from Subcrew’s main line, with most products bearing a single shark trademark and specifically designed with a colorful pop-art monogram pattern or shark submarine faux-metal print.
The eclectic, energetic collection encompasses the signature streetwear styles of the two brands where the windbreaker, print tee, vest, shorts and shirt are offered alongside a must-have accessories ensemble that includes a backpack, tote bag and trucker.
The collection also presents Quiksilver’s highly prized professional surfer outfits and gear: including boardshorts, Lycra (rash guard) top, waterproof backpack and beach mat.
The Quiksilver x Subcrew 2014 collaboration is a perfect fusion of both brands’ fashion style, using the ocean as the main theme as well as delivering a message to protect them. This collection marks the first time that Quiksilver works with an iconic, cult-status Hong Kong brand, with Subcrew’s three founders led by celebrity actor/DJ/trendsetter Sam Lee, with Frankie Cheung and Kobe Chen personally modeling in the promotional campaign images.
