137 Pillars Suites & Residences Bangkok @ A Bespoke Chic & Modern Living

Passionately curated, the 137 Pillars Suites & Residences Bangkok - a slick sister property to the existing charming 137 Pillars House in the cultural hub of Chiang Mai, now opens only a few months ago on Soi Sukhumvit 39, Bangkok. Steeped in traditions as much as it is in modernity where old and new unites, 137 Pillars Suites & Residences Bangkok never fails to captivate. mylifestylenews writes.

When it comes to creating the right atmosphere and style like the luxury boutique 137 Pillars Suites & Residences Bangkok, they have their own sense and vision by finding the right inspiration to please their guests. Charming and modern at the same time yet with a hint of contemporary Thai motif to add on to the design plan atop 22 floors of private residences in a new building with a timeless quality.

Our experience starts when stepping off the plane just after midnight in Bangkok and a chauffeur driven BMW Series 5 arrives to whisk us away to the City of Angels - one of the world’s most bustling capitals. Comfort in car, with hi speed wi-fi connection and definitely travelling in style as it was expected while arriving at the quieter city sanctuary of an old-fashioned charm minutes away from the upscale Emquartier & Emporium shopping area and in the heart of fashionable Thonglor district of Bangkok.

The first thing we saw upon arriving at the hotel is the stylish purple customized and iconic “Louie the London Cab” that is parked in front on the hotel entrance, providing services to and from Prompprong Bangkok Sky train (BTS) Station/Emquartier Shopping area which runs on a regular and complimentary basis. It is definitely another unique experience to explore while staying here.

The high ceiling lobby creates a grand entrance with tasteful flower arrangements around the lounge area and gigantic wall painting resemble a Nirvana and reborn or incarnation makes the central attraction. Other contemporary sculptures are well placed to add additional mood contrasting the modern and sophisticated interior.

Late arrival or shall we say rather early arrival doesn’t mean that you are less looked after. We don’t expect to have any meet and greet service in such wee arrival hour yet everything of the little details a luxury hotel should have was being looked into. From the speedy check-in to the room with the already turn-down service and amenities as well as the short and precise room feature briefing and luggage delivery, we were at our most comforting level at once.

137 Pillars Suites & Residences Bangkok surely expands into micro-brand status by knowing their niche. When a super-premium building rears up in the residential Sukhumvit precincts, one of the challenges for its architects is to make the new structure blend in and also stand out. It needs to emerge as a new landmark and reference point for the neighborhood, rather than merely jutting out and marring the skyline. Palmer and Turner - The architects for the property with Interiors by P49 Design and Landscape by Wabi Sabi Studio, the design team brings its interior to life showcasing a warm palette of rich tones and expansive use of mirrors and glass with overall aesthetic is contemporary classic, creating a magnificent light-filled spaces that stimulate all senses.

Contemporary sculptures are seen and well placed in the designated area

Known for its chic interior, the 34-luxurious suites are located from the 24th to 32nd floor and are named after the great royal periods in Thai history, with four luxurious categories, the Rattanakosin Suites, The Ayuthaya Suites, the Sukhothai Suites and the Thonburi Suites of one and two bedrooms in each category. Our 64sqm 1 bedroom Sukhothai Suite - one of the 12 Suites in the category, in a king size configuration comes together with the 35sqm en-suite bathroom. The bathroom size itself is already a size of any regular 4-stars hotel or even 5-star hotel’s room size in total. Floor-to-wall grey white marble spreads throughout the entire bathroom creating a slick, bright and spacious sensation, with a luxurious walk-in wardrobe complete with views from the 137 Pillars designed circular bath tub complete with built in TV.

Turn-down service and amenities awaits upon our arrival

The high ceiling Sukhothai Suite is fully fitted with maxi bar and private pantry, mood lighting and the luxurious and superior 400 thread count bed linen and ultra-comfortable bed are of the highest standard and offers us a real sweet good night sleep. The spacious balcony fitted with the traditional 137 Pillars House signature rocking chairs and an expansive daybed is another haven to chill with the views of the Bangkok skyline.

The Sukhothai Suite bathroom

We moved from Sukhothai Suite to Ayutthaya Suite the next day to experience the difference in terms of sizes and amenities with an upgrade by the hotel. The Autthaya Suite features 85 sqm with a private dining table, butler service, a more spacious bedroom with TV in the bedroom, living room and guest bathroom in addition to the existing features and amenities that the Sukhothai Suite has to offer.

Unmistakably modern and seriously slick, the Ayutthaya Suite exudes understated elegance.  The color scheme in the room is peaceful, dark wooden flooring at the entrance, black marble table top contrasting a warm palette of rich tones bringing the design style into home, fusing the sleek and the modern is not as difficult as it may seem - the trick is in the texture and colors by finding the balance.

Another important element when it comes to designing the room is the light in the room. A room that’s dark in the morning might offer the most beautiful honey shade in the late afternoon, while sunny-in-the-morning space might be wonderfully moody in the evening. Such crucial aspect of designing is looked into imperatively to create harmony, maximizing exposure and provides expansive views.

Additional highlight of this property is two of their infinity edged swimming pools with a Sky Bar and rooftop infinity edged pool on the 27th floor and 32nd floor respectively. The rooftop swimming pool views are superb and mesmerizing especially for sunset. Rays of sunlight pour molten gold across the surface of picturesque skyline of the city of Angels.

On a clear day, your vista stretches some 20 over kilometers where the Suvarnabhumi International Airport is clearly seen. Be ready to soak up the sun while looking out at one of the best roof top views in Bangkok.

The Marble Bar

Challenge yourself and have a walk on the see through round glass flooring looking straight down 27 floors below to the ground, which may get more likes from your instagram followers.

The 27th floor lap pool is another urban cocoon with the Marble Bar serving signature cocktails and playing some hip pipe-in lounge music to chill. Ceiling high marble pillar-walls majestically juxtaposing the panoramic views of skyscrapers where everything is state-of-the-art and impeccably designed.

Also, don’t miss out the secret corner where the long Jacuzzi with high jet pressure is hidden - another intimate spot to unwind.

For an intimate dining experience, NIMITR is the place to be with a beautiful meter ceiling with panoramic views to Bangkok that serves modern Thai cuisine with a contemporary touch and locally inspired haute cuisine menu.

Jack Bain's Bar and Cigar Divan on the 28th floor above NIMITR is named after the owner of the original teak homestead in Chiang Mai which dates back to the late 1800s and after which 137 Pillars House is named and ideal for a pre and post dinner drink.

The Bangkok Trading Post Bistro

Breakfast is served at the all-day dining bistro, The Bangkok Trading Post that is known for its daily fresh baked pastries and deli. Serving also Western and Asian favorites with connoisseur beverages as well as local Thai selection. The seasonal fruits corner is another highlight with one of the best local picks.

Designed and created by Bangkok’s chic design couple Sophie Beghin and Faun Israrenana Ayudhya of Santhaya Associates, the stylish bistro draws enormous natural lights from Soi Sukhumvit 39 overlooking the surrounded “secret garden” with a pond full of Koi fishes and a white semi-caged gazebo and alfresco dining furniture to chill. The long, chic and modern table top with high stools also offers a much more casual and relaxing dining experience.

An evening cocktail hour is also serving some signature house pouring brand cocktails as well as wine and champagnes are not to be missed.
