LONGCHAMP @ SS2014 Fashion Presentation

LONGCHAMP’s Spring 2014 collection travel theme in its most enticing forms. Naturally exotic, essentially elegant, TRIBU LONGCHAMP is the season chicest fashion tribe. True to its name, the Escales collection stops over in three different destinations: Botswana, Portofino and Australia. In this final stopover, it was the Outback, with its wild beauty and spirit of adventure, which inspired the season’s statement print: TRIBU LONGCHAMP.

The starting point for TRIBU LONGCHAMP was the lorikeet, a small and brightly coloured parrot that is emblematic of Australia. Its rainbow plumage is digitally enhanced and strategically placed on the collection’s key pieces, from leather goods to ready-to-wear, to create the effect of a tribal headdress or trophy necklace.

Chic totes bags in natural linen canvas are emblazoned with the TRIBU LONGCHAMP print in two eye-catching colour palettes: khaki with touches of zingy lemon, and terracotta spiced with burnt orange. Available in two spacious sizes, the larger of which would be perfect for the beach, the totes are finished with leather hand-woven handles and a Longchamp label in ebony leather, defining the season’s compelling combination of elegance and exoticism. Not to be outdone, the iconic Le Pliage® also displays the TRIBU LONGCHAMP print, teaming it with mocha leather trim.

Jeremy Scott has turned the colour bar test card used to appear every so often on TV sets into a print that he has brought up to date for Spring 2014. With its cotton canvas trimmed in black cowhide, this bag christened the “Color Bar” is the latest addition to Longchamp’s partnership with Jeremy Scott. The colour bands are of course reminiscent of the ones that you used to see sometimes on television screens for calibrating and setting the channels.

On key pieces from the Longchamp ready-to-wear collection, TRIBU LONGCHAMP works both as a pattern and an accessory. Precisely placed around the neckline of a short-sleeved linen coat (a signature piece that Longchamp reinterprets every season), it becomes a statement necklace - an effect repeated on a simple jersey shift and T-shirt, and an airy vest in cotton and silk. Around the waist of the season’s cute linen shorts, TRIBU LONGCHAMP is a trophy belt , no other decoration required!
