The OKURA Prestige Bangkok - A Harmonious Staycation

Harmonized by the Japanese principle of “Wa” since its opening in 2012, The Okura Prestige Bangkok continues to offer the luxury comfort to its guests and recently being a member of the Leading Hotels of The World (LHW) with simplicity and elegance in prestige accommodation. mylifestylenews writes.

Strategically located in the City Business District along with prestige shopping malls adjacent to the BTS SkyTrain on Phloen Chit station and the embassy row on Wireless road, it is ideal to explore every facet of the Thai capitol. The Park Ventures Ecoplex houses not only various top corporate offices in the city but also a prestige accommodation with other facilities.

The Okura Prestige Bangkok was the first of its kind that marked a new phase in development for the Okura Hotels and Resorts. With Okura’s philosophy of “Best A.C.S” – Best in Accommodation, Cuisine and Service by offering their utmost hospitality, comfort and luxury in a city well known and appreciated for its outstanding levels of service.

The ground floor lobby serves only the bell-service with lifts taking you up directly to the 24th floor atrium lobby. The unexpected soaring high ceiling is decorated with artistic tangling rattans by a Thai artist with Japanese craftsman motifs. Well laid brown marble flooring contrasts the soaring partitions with see through waving net encouraging natural light to come in from the back of the reception. The gigantic earth tone floor lamp adds a sophisticated mood to the lobby with an inviting daybed bench.

Heavily silhouetted and simplified in form, they truly understand less is more and with a touch of sophistication and yet without being too clinical from some hotels who are trying to project a minimalism aesthetic.

At each end of the lobby, elegant beige toned sofas and round stools adorned with some tasteful potted orchids add a decorative touch where the other end section lounge is set up for the use of further relaxation, which is also an extension of the Up & Above Restaurant & Bar for those who prefer a lounge setting seating.Thematic afternoon tea is served and quite well-loved among the locals.

Below the giant marble-stone stairway that will take you up one floor where the gym, a Michelin-starred restaurant, the reknown outdoor hanging swimming pool and the spa are located. Below the staircase is an indoor landscaped garden displaying different flora and fauna according to seasonal changes where lavender is the current inspiration.

Our check-in was handled courteously and promptly. Front desk staff were very well groomed, with the right attitude and ready to serve which was definitely well-adapted from the amicable Japanese culture that makes you feel very welcome.

Our 43sqm park facing Deluxe room is a total comfort with triple-glazed panoramic windows that insulate against both heat and noise. In keeping with Okura’s principle of “Simplicity and Elegance”, the rooms are designed to allow the exquisite quality of their materials and finishing as one of the highlights. Every room is fitted to the highest standard and decorated with a subtle touch to create an atmosphere of contemporary elegance.

The room provides the finest Egyptian cotton sheets and the heavenly large King size bed to premium bathroom amenities, along with a digital bedside easy-control panel with one touch button to impress. Sliding wooden doors divide the bathroom for privacy and with a separate small toilet with automatic sanitary facilities. Beside the soft cotton bathrobes provided, the refined Japanese Yukata is another added bonus showing additional attention to detail. Welcome amenities also include some delicate Japanese light hearted dessert together with Thai Look Choop (Thai version of marzipan) and gourmet chocolate to touch your heart during turn down service. Crane origami was well placed on the bed for a further Japanese touch.

The extended architecture of the building on the 25th floor is the dramatic outdoor hanging infinity pool, which is another favorite hang out for guests. The 25 metres long cantilevered infinity pool has one of the most spectacular panoramic city skyline views in whichever direction you are swimming. The only downside for the pool is that it does not allocate enough sun lounges and the gap between the pool and the passenger ways were too narrow. The fully-equipped “open door” concept fitness centre overlooks the pool and with 24 hours access facility.

Breakfast is served at Up & above restaurant featuring endless varieties of Asian and international dishes to whet your morning appetite. An extended large balcony is a popular venue for cocktails and sunset watching.

With numerous accolades including the Top 25 Luxury Hotels in Thailand and Asia’s Top 20 Business Hotels among many others, the overall experience doesn’t disappoint especially from the service perspective inherited from its 39 years since its formation. The hotel has certainly built up a global standard with high-quality in hospitality management, fusing the delicate beauty and subtleties of Japanese Culture with Western convenience and functionality embodies the business philosophy of “Best A.C.S”. Simplicity at its prestige best!
