Chloé SS2019 Collection - mylifestylenews' Top 10 Pick

Natacha Ramsay-Levi invokes the subliminal pull of hippie modernism to a new-age revival defines Chloé SS2019 Collection.

The Chloé girl departs on a Mediterranean journey under the sun, grounded in earthly delights.

Reflecting on souvenirs of counter culture, the collection pulses with solar energy and the avant-garde constructs of sensuality, femininity, and utopian progress.

Considering the lives and art forms of free-spirited women, garments are touched by ancient textures: scarf silks, carpet jacquard, ikat, laddered linen and plissé mousseline create a sensory overload of wrapped and bias-cut layering.

In a sequence of progressive chapters, hues diffuse through ceramic neutrals to sunset shades of orange, terracotta, and faded blues. Against an ombré sky, the silhouette of raised hands depicts an inclusive symbol of the sacred feminine.

A ‘paréo’ effect abounds, as flou skirts and flared trouser volumes are caught by twisted silk lariat belts, and handkerchief hems perpetuate movement. Blouses and tunics cascade in goddess pleating or open weave knits, whilst tank dresses and gilets breathe in tapestry and hammered ‘denim’ silk.

Romantic gowns ripple in rococo weaves and paint-dipped tiers, as shell embroideries and gem harnesses echo the imperfect decoration of eclectic bijoux: femininities and amulets that radiate with emotion.

On foot, buckled flats, asymmetric sandals and graphic mules curve in ergonomic lines of croc leather or tapestry cloth.

The ‘Tess’ shoulder bag returns in airbrush suede, and the new Chloé ‘c’ bag appears in squared and utility shapes crafted in embossed patchworks and neon dégradé. A Chloé icon, the ‘Marcie’ is updated in shiny croc embossed leather for its 10th anniversary.
