Roger Vivier SS2018 Collection Hong Kong Presentation

Think inside the box. Entering the SS2018 collection, a giant, red signature shoebox greets you, inviting you to discover the work of the visionary Roger Vivier led by the Creative Director of the house, Bruno Frisoni. The designer creates this visual pathway to enter and experience a hands-on journey which expresses the brand’s distinctive symbols and motifs which make up its alluring identity.

Inspired by Tom Sachs’ work with logos, the installation puts a new spin on Roger Vivier’s iconic codes, integrating a new immersive experience akin to the popular movement in today’s modern art scene. The visitor is submerged in Vivier red, surrounded by a smattering of Roger Vivier logos in white lettering, while discovering the main shoe of the season, the Choc heel, the House’s distinctive and classic symbol of enticement and innovation. The soft voice of Mr. Vivier is overheard in the music soundtrack waxing poetic on his love of shoe design. He explains his passion for posture via the heel this way; “A dress is carried by the woman, but the shoe carries a woman.” The brand’s logo is reimagined in a modern manner proposing it in a new form – The iconic Roger Vivier signature in script writing is embossed on the Mule Choc in a clever and unexpected way across the vamp. A harmony of materials and colours combine to reflect a harmony of luxury and “tongue and chic” expression

Viv' Cabas
Timeless luxury at Vivier - With its sleek cut, in a trapezoid shape and clean with lines, the Viv’ Cabas goes with any bold and daring look and instantly adds Parisian chic panache to its wearer. The most classic mark of the house, the buckle, is a slightly curved arc over a leather flap to conceal hardware, this sensual interpretation attracts attention and once again defines the House in its most current interpretation. But the Viv’ Cabas is a free spirit too, that lends itself to endless variations.

For SS018, it compliments a boyfriend-style shirt as well in natural raffia canvas with leather stripes, another nod to classic a French motif. The result is a new Viv' Cabas mood which celebrates the new urban feminine attitude. Detailed with natural raffia canvas and leather stripes.

The Choc Heel ( Hong Kong Exclusive)
The cult heel - With just one stroke, the fine curve of the Choc heel is drawn. Its geometry shows and enhances Roger Vivier’s passion for playful shapes. In a bold deep Roger Vivier red, shown on a new mule shape, the Choc heel adds a quick jolt of color punctuating one’s style. The edgy appeal of the heel endures through trends that come and go. This season they are designed with another timeless beauty in mind – supermodels of the Eighties and Nineties, such as Christy Turlington. For SS2018, the Choc heel is perfected: “An edgier heel, devoted body and soul to a woman’s legs.” according to Frisoni.

THE SHIRTING FAMILY
From the boardroom to boardwalk, the shirting motif pays tribute to classic striped menswear shirts. The RV signature mimics those uber-chic embroidered initials on the classiest of men’s shirts, the kind women love to steal from the men in their life. In colorful combos of red, blue and black, the pattern on shoes and bags are ready for long summer days. Pure delight, the flower-embroidered version blooms in a cluster of color. Alternatively, try the mini Viv' Cabas in raffia canvas with leather stripes for sunny city or beach days. These bags can hardly wait for summer!

LA’BEL SNEAKERS
The new Roger Vivier sneakers define the look of sporty chic while embracing long standing house visuals. In the 30s, Mr. Vivier opened his first store in Paris. The boxes and shopping bags featured a symbol: a white 17th-century-style frame enclosing the designer's name. For Spring/Summer 2018, the label has been appliquéd onto a sneaker in ultra-soft leather as well as on poolside-style mules. A fresh breezy attitude stamped with a mark of distinction for the style elite.

V TYPE
V, as in Vivier, pays homage to the house with the new V Type. Positioned on the vamp of the foot, this incisive V is inspired by the radical graphics of the 80s. Gracing flats or adorning on the season's star heel the Choc V Type is the perfect shoe to transition from day to night. Its secret weapon? Creating a line on women's legs that make them longer and more beautiful. For evening, the V takes inspiration from the iconic Gloria Vanderbilt and her passion for jewels with luxurious crystal pavé beading.

BOÎTE DE JOUR  & THE CHOC HEEL
The Boîte de Jour is the alter-ego of the Boîte de Nuit, the star minaudiére of the evening collections. The body of the bag has been enlarged and rounded with a short handle which allows it to be carried in the crook of the arm or as a top-handle case. Geometric by nature, it recalls the polish of the MadMen-era Sixties femininity especially when worn with a belted-waist, pencil skirt and shy-high stilettos. Added details such as a petite lock and RV signature in gold-plated metal make this an instant classic handbag for day. Welcome to the sexy side of Roger Vivier. Designed in 1959 by Mr. Vivier himself, the fine curve of this heel creates a dazzling line and shape called the Choc. For SS2018 the Choc has sharpened its look for an “edgier heel, devoted body and soul to a woman’s legs” according to Creative Director Bruno Frisoni.  While the timeless look transcends eras, it recalls beauties such as Christy Turlington from the 90’s, feminine yet strong.

MADAME VIV' & VERTIGO
The ultimate Parisian icon- Catherine Deneuve's character in the 1967 classic, Belle de Jour - is the guiding light of Roger Vivier collection. Who could forget her undeniably chic and sophisticated look with her black wardrobe, ethereal blonde hair and porcelain complexion? The same is true for her accessories: The Vivier buckle that stands out from the crowd with its graphic impact. In tribute to the heroine, tyhe Madame Viv' bag adopts her mysterious, very Sixties look. Fitting for the day with jeans but also perfect for an extravagant "buit sur la ville." With its new buckle and new heel, the Vertigo arouses all of the senses. Designed with a wave in mind, the heel evokes a voluptuous in classic 1950’s-style femininity. The enigmatic and ultra-sophisticated shoe features combine with an all-new leather buckle with a quilted-effect.  This precious, seductive jewel is set to become iconic to the new Parisienne according to the world of Roger Vivier.

BAB’ VIV’ & TREKKY VIV’
Destined to be a summertime time staple, this new Vivier slipper was inspired by Creative Director Bruno Frisoni’s recent trip to Morocco. Awed by the color and light he experienced there, the designer reimagines this enduring classic, updating the pointed sleek shape with an iconic Vivier buckle in pavé crystal. The casual slip-on adapts to an urban oasis when paired with simple modern separates that add a touch of luxury and ease. With a nod to sport utility sandals, the new Trekky Viv' contrast Velco with rhinestones on the versatile sandal. Luxury meets comfort here for an ultra-trendy yet pragmatic experimental look. In technical fabric or satin, it puts a quirky spin on tailored looks or dresses up a casual outfit. It's the new chic staple you can't do without.
