The 13th Worldwide White Truffle of Alba Auction was successfully held. The giant twin truffles, weight 750g and 503g respectively, were bid by the chairman of Crown Worldwide Group Chairman – James E. (Jim) Thompson by 98,000 Euro (about HK$1.05M). All profits went to “Changing Young Lives Foundation”. The truffle has landed in Hong Kong. A press conference today was held in the two Michelin-starred restaurant 8 ½ Otto e Mezzo BOMBANA with guests include Chef Umberto Bombana, who is also the White Truffle Ambassador, General Manager of Langhe Roero Tourism Board Mauro Carbone, and bidding winner James E. Thompson. The event was first held in 1999 and organized by Regional Piedmontese Enoteca Cavour with the Piedmont Region and the City of Alba.
