Captain America : The Winter Soldier

<Captain America : The Winter Soldier> has awaken from being from frozen in a glacier for a few decades and after the cataclysmic events in New York with The Avengers and living quietly in Washington, D.C. trying to adjust to the modern world and struggles to expose the ever-widening conspiracy while fighting off professional assailants sent to silence him, at every turn. This sequel  has more suspenseful and political astute with almost never ending action since they got it started. It was just bang! bang!! bang!!! especially when the full scope of the villainous plots is revealed ans against an unexpected yet formidable enemy - the Winter Soldier. Directed by Emmy Award®–winning directors Anthony and Joe Russo from a screenplay by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely. The creative production team on the film includes director of photography Trent Opaloch (“Elysium,” “District 9”), production designer Peter Wenham (“21 Jump street,” “Fast Five”), editors Jeffrey Ford, A.C.E. (“Iron Man 3,” “Marvel’s The Avengers”) and Matthew Schmidt (“Iron Man 3,” “Marvel’s The Avengers”), and three-time Oscar®-nominated costume designer Judianna Makovsky (“The Hunger Games,” “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone”).

With so many great storylines in the Captain America comics over the last 70 years, the filmmakers had many options from the source material for the 2nd chapter of the beloved franchise.  “One of the greatest things for us as filmmakers is that we are really blessed to have so many years of great storytelling and memorable characters in the comics that really give us so much inspiration and direction when it comes time to develop the stories and scripts for our films,” says producer D’Esposito. “We don’t tell the same exact stories as they appear in the comics, but they give us a great jumping off point in developing the most compelling stories that we think audiences will enjoy and want to see.”

Captain America is no longer the plucky underdog raring to fight "bullies" like the Nazis but on this mission busy saving hostages with impessively mounted action set pieces. Robert Redford adds nice dimension as Alexander Pierce, a militaristic S.H.I.E.LD. agent who liaises with foreign government since his bravura performance from <All is Lost> and perhaps a nice late career renaissance awaits. We didn't expect much on this sequel yet it was the jolt of energy the series needed and a cinematic page-turner being one of the best superhero movies ever.
