LE TEMPS CHANEL WATCH EXHIBITION

CHANEL held a timeless exhibition themed LE TEMPS CHANEL at Hart Hall H Queen’s in Central, proposes an immersive journey unveiling more than 30 years of its watchmaking.

Since 1987, CHANEL has been defining a unique vision of Fine Watchmaking through the creation of watches conceived as objects of desire and beauty, without compromising the craftsmanship and technical expertise required to create exceptional timepieces. Timepieces designed to withstand the test of time.

LE TEMPS CHANEL starts with the latest collection, CODE COCO, viewed as a collage on a video wall. Then the audacious Première, first watch CHANEL created, with inspiration drawn from the N°5 bottle stopper and Place Vendôme.

A graceful debut that was both an authentic timepiece and a fashion statement that no one of the time had expected.

Side by side stands J12 and Boy.Friend, both ground-breaking in their own time. First created in black ceramic, the J12 transformed high-tech ceramic into a precious material proclaiming itself the first watchmaking icon of the 21st century.

In 2003, with the creation of the immaculate and opalescent white J12, CHANEL also reinvented the color of white, making it the must-have color in watchmaking for the next decade. Boy.Friend reimagines the androgynous codes of Gabrielle Chanel in dressing women, a witty play of masculinity and femininity.

The journey continuous to unveil the one-of-a-kind creations of Mademoiselle Privé collection that turns heads and time with their precious embellishments and refined movements. A totem charts CHANEL’s mastery of complications. In 2016, CHANEL created its first in-house Haute Horlogerie movement: CALIBRE 1 with Instant Jumping Hour and Retrograde Minute, and its first watch tailored for men: Monsieur de CHANEL. A year later, a second in-house movement reinterpreted the Première; this year’s in-house revelation, CALIBRE 3, is a skeleton movement that shows the Boy.Friend in a startling new light.

A layered wall allows close up and personal views of the House’s high-end wonders. For over thirty years, CHANEL has stayed true to its own vision of watchmaking and, in so doing, created new watchmaking codes. Watches that, year after year, transcribe the allure of time. It is a unique journey, forever on time and in vogue, and with LE TEMPS CHANEL there for all to enjoy. Exhibition ends 24th June 2018.
