《Perfume Tales & Legends @ GUERLAIN》

As the name Hong Kong means " fragrant harbour" in Cantonese, it is the perfect place in which to showcase the GUERLAIN 's exhibition of the history of perfume in conjunction of the Le French May Art's Festival 2011. Over 120 exceptional perfume-related objects, as well as olfactory workshop, ingredients and machines for perfume-making are also on display.
   
 
GUERLAIN roots lie in perfume and contributing 55 pieces to the collection, one of the pieces is the last of 47 L'Abeille de Guerlain bottles, numbered 38 available is sold at HK$160,000 and several pieces are antiques from as old as 1840.
  
  
  
The exhibition is curated by the collectors Anne Camilli and Jean-Marie Martin Hattemberg. The beautiful private collection that belongs to French Expert of Perfumery history and heritage Jean-Marie tells fascinating stories while initiating us into a world of creation and imagination.
 
  
  
  
 
Anne has spent over 22 years in the world of perfume: natural raw materials, olfactory creation and packaging design, she has put together a pool of talents including Jean-Marie whom she has met in 2006 to join her on various projects.
    
  
   
   
Well known among Perfumery Professionals and the Art Objects Market for this work as an expert and adviser, jean-Marie is into perfumery from 1880 up till today, often collection perfume objects from various auctions. Already a winner of the ProdiMarques prize in 2001, he received the "Art & Discovery" prize in 2007, a very prestigious prize bestowed on him.
 
  
During the Golden Age of perfumery, from the end of 19th century throughout the 20th, many renowned brands and some of the most exquisite fragrances were created and presented in the new and innovative bottles. The collection perfectly reflects this golden era, the expression pf an artistic lifestyle, and the know-how of craftsmen who were the forerunners of a modern industry.
 
   
   
Exhibition has various themes entitled "Tales From The Past", "Legendary Perfumes", "Tales Of Today Legends For Tomorrow" and "From Nature To Perfume".
Exhibition ends 16th June 2011 @ Garden Court Pacific Place.
