Jaeger-LeCoultre Yearbook Ten @ The Art Of Revealing The Unexpected

Revealing the unexpected. This theme at the heart of the history and creation by Jaeger-LeCoultre is highlighted with a blend of subtlety and emotion through the stories featured in the tenth year of the Yearbook.

This edition celebrates a double anniversary: ten years of the publication and 85 years of the Reverso, the iconic watch from the Grande Maison. A volume packed with surprises in which photos and words enable us to view reality from a new angle. For the past ten years, Jaeger-LeCoultre has been highlighting the art of photography in its Yearbook.

For this special edition, the articles follow a guiding theme: revealing that which is not immediately apparent, that which surprises, just as the Reverso has been doing for 85 years by swivelling to show another face. The publication itself is unexpected, you have to flip it over to continue reading!

first section invites readers to explore countless hidden sides of life through attractive and disconcerting shots, while the second gives pride of place to the two faces of the Reverso by celebrating its Art Deco inspiration and then allowing pairs of artists to express these twin facets.

GUCCI GG Marmont

The GG Marmont is a design inspired by a buckle that was used by Gucci in the Seventies. It’s distinctive GG detail is one of the House’s strongest and most recognisable symbols. But though the roots of this bag lie in the House archive, the twenty-first century version of the GG Marmont is decidedly synonymous with the aesthetic world of Creative Director Alessandro Michele. In this new version of the GG Marmont the GG motif appears as the main ornament. The new handbag is an evolution of the original style, featuring softer construction. The models of GG Marmont range from shoulder bags in three sizes to tote bags and camera cases. All come with brass chain shoulder straps featuring a leather detail. And all combine functionality with femininity.

Materials used are calf leather, velvet and crocodile. There is quilting on the smooth calf leather styles either in a chevron or a cubic design, the latter with the addition of studs. Chevron quilting is also a feature on some of the velvet styles. The colour palette includes a multitude of hues: black, mystic white, hibiscus red, pink intense, yellow, fuchsia, peacock and dark emerald. There are also models using a combination of colours, notably black and mystic white.

Linings are in beige-coloured microfibre for the leather models, beige nappa leather for the crocodile models and peony-coloured silk for the velvet models. The metallic elements notably the GG motif itself are in antiqued gold, and there is a ‘quilted’ heart detail or GG design on the backs of some of the chevron-quilted bags. For the shoulder bags the closure is a pin closure with a side button, while the totes have a hidden magnetic closure and the camera bags a zip closure. As well as coming in a myriad of colours, materials and styles, the GG Marmont has been designed with practicality in mind and, depending on the model in question, features zippered or open pockets inside.

CARVEN AW2016 Women's Ad Campaign

Under the creative direction of Alexis Martial and Adrien Caillaudaud, CARVEN AW2016 Women's ad campaign features models Jane Moseley and Line Brems. Artist-turned-model, Jane Moseley, grows up in Los Angeles with an actor father and a model mother. Moseley was first signed with an agency at 14. One of her signatures is her tattoo on the left arm, with a vivid image of Motoko Kusanagi, a character from the anime series ‘Ghost in the Shell’. Moseley made her runway debut at Paris Fashion Week, Fall 2016.

Line was born in 1997, originally from Kolding, Denmark. 3 seasons after her New York Fashion Week debut, the Danish catwalker has been making the rounds of some of the city’s buzziest runways and caused more than one major double take. With her golden hair, strong brows, and delicate features, Brems bears a striking resemblance to Cara Delevingne. She has covered ELLE Denmark in May 2015, as well as L’officiel Russia in March 2016 among other fashion editorials and campaigns.
