PORTS 1961 SS2017 Less Hate More Love Collection

What can designers do to defend us in troubled times like these? Reinterpreting the male wardrobe with an excess of gentleness, adding romanticism to military wear, giving a new twist to their decorations, adding flowers and re-embroidering everything with poetry is what Milan Vukmirovic has chosen for the SS2017 of Ports 1961.

Fashion not only dresses us but affects us and protects us. It reflects the times and can convey deep messages. Uniforms have always occupied a privileged place in the fashion pantheon.

With Milan Vukmirovic’s fourth collection for Ports 1961, the French artistic director does not restrict himself to lines of perfectly conceived army uniforms on which much contemporary fashion is based.

He also appropriates their stripes, insignia, frogs and ceremonial braiding, sensitively transferring these details to jerkins, shirts, sweatshirts and shorts.

This military influence, playfully redefined, is boosted by references to classic sportswear. As part of the collection, a partnership has been signed with Everlast, creating a capsule collection that is distributed exclusively by Ports 1961.

The iconic logo of the American brand is reworked in large dimensions on a selection of sports pieces with a new, more pronounced fashion accent.

In parallel with this, abstract flower emblems are also key, appearing layered on raw edge poplin over shirt fronts, in tone-on-tone embroidery on lengthened bomber jackets, and screen-printed to break up the graphic rhythm on sweaters and marinière T-shirts.

There are stripes but also jacquards and, above all, the Star Camo design which the fashion house has adopted as its own for four seasons, which adds dynamism to the season in a range that stretches from ecru to black via navy blue and olive green.

The accessories are also part of the celebration. Backpacks and sneakers continue the textile motifs of the ready-to-wear.

A new line of objects and small leather goods in smooth leather has the golden signature #LOVE, the hashtag for SS2017, which is also found on the garments, updating the #followme which has characterized previous seasons.

PRADA SS2017 Advertising Campaign

PRADA presents: 365, a visual stream for the new advertising campaigns. A reimagining of a fashion campaign, challenging convention and freed from creative boundaries, 365 envisages a new multi-faceted concept of fashion advertising, displaying manifold interpretations of the Prada collections. The SS2017 campaign marks the first stage in this new approach.

Instead of representing a singular idea through imagery for an entire season, there are multiple narratives of a shifting and equally multi-dimensional world. Not one story, but many.

Modernity is found in this plurality: it is a reaction to the moment, to humanity, to life. The complexity of imagery reflects the complexity of reality. There is always more than one point of view.

Throughout the year, new imagery will be produced, showcasing the Prada collections in a variety of different manners. Spontaneous and immediate like Prada’s fashion, these images do not exist in a vacuum: they are contemporaneous, influenced by the world around them. Like fashion itself, they will capture the individual moment, the moods of the time, a reaction to the heightened pace of today.

The SS2017 campaign showcases five separate visual identities, five Prada realities: Pathways, Frontiers, Stations, Exits and Terrains. Each represents different scenes from the same story, a sequence of imagery, but are dichotomous, entirely distinct. The five strands are united by the instantly-recognisable photographic language of Willy Vanderperre, and the aesthetic of Prada.

The emphasis is on their difference. Environments move between an office and the beach; from indoors to in nature, black and white to colour. A cast of characters - new and exclusive faces, and recognised named - shift and change between each of these five visions of Prada, enforcing the individuality of each. Different places, different people, a different point of view.

Actor Jude Law takes centre stage in a film noir-ish landscape of monochrome sand dunes. As an actor, Law shifts between different characters, guises and realities - he is always and never the same, constantly shifting our perceptions yet always recognisable.

He embodies the elastic nature of the project: he presents multiple realities, all of which are true.

In a challenge to the singularity of traditional campaign imagery, the multiplicity of interpretations will continue throughout the year.

The campaign is a unique and discernible viewpoint that stands apart. Prada’s fashion proposes something new, as does this new approach to advertising.

The visions behind each of these Prada images - and behind this new advertising concept as a whole - echo the ever-shifting needs and desires of everyone’s lives, every day. Prada, 365.

Mont Blanc @ A Journey To The Stars: High Artistry Homage To Johannes Kepler Limited Edition

Celebrating the genius that unlocked a new dimension in the science of astronomy. Since the dawn of time mankind has looked at the skies above in awe, yet only a handful of individuals have successfully unlocked the mysteries of the universe, pushing the boundaries of human knowledge. One of those brilliant minds was Johannes Kepler (1571- 1630), a formidable mathematician, astronomer and astrologer, who uncovered the laws of planetary motion, laying the foundations for the development of modern astronomy. Considered by some as the first astrophysicist in the history of science, this free spirit and scientific revolutionary moved beyond hypothetical observations to demonstrate the movement of the planets through mathematical and experimental research. In honour of a pioneer who inspired generations of scientists after him from Newton to Einstein, Montblanc presents the High Artistry Homage to Johannes Kepler Limited Edition. Created by the Montblanc Maison Artisan Atelier, each of these masterpieces illustrates Kepler’s extraordinary dedication in his search for the infinity of the universe taking design cues from the many ground-breaking works he penned during his lifetime.

GUCCI SS2017 Advertising Campaign

GUCCI SS2017 Advertising Campaign travels to Gucci’s homeland where a collective of artists, intellectuals, creatives and outsider characters collide in the streets of Rome, celebrating the eccentric, the surreal and the bizarre.

Wild cats nonchalantly roam the romantic city alongside our characters, a giraffe is fed grapes as they dine al fresco, and lions and tigers are welcomed into their home as they watch TV.

Shot by Glen Luchford and inspired by generations of intellectuals and artists that considered Rome to be their home town, some by birth, others through cultural adoption, this campaign is a true homage to personalities like Cy Twombly, Mario Schifano and Laura Betti.

The result is a series of compelling compositions that champion the unconventional individuals found in the historic city.

ZARA SS2017 Collection

ZARA SS2017 COLLECTION

Zara’s SS2017 Collection draws inspirations from ideas and imagery associated with art. In collaboration with American fashion photographer Steven Meisel and his team, Zara’s design teams worked closely with them to create image-related and iconic pieces on oversized looks, unstructured silhouettes, flowing volumes and corsets with the underpinning common thread of ribbons, all of which using fine materials: cotton, cashmere, wool and silk.

The SS2017 Women’s Collection is part of Zara’s new ballerina inspired campaign, and features garments borrowed from boys, oversized pieces, boxy crop tops, layered shirts, sheer dresses and cashmere sweaters combined with flirty skirts over leggings.

The pieces can be easily matched with ballet flats or pumps, creating various looks of a ballerina after an incredible performance.

The application of the subversive and unexpected combinations of vibrant, bold and clashing tones, particularly seen in its playful rendition of pinks and reds, makes an emphatic and audacious statement for the commercial season ahead.

Defined by eccentricity and versatility, the SS2017 Zara Men’s Collection narrates the journey of the traveler exploring the world in search for new Exciting Territories. The collection accentuates the seasonal trends, and brings them together in unconventional ways; integrating sportswear with tailoring, layers and accessories using the mix of high-end fabrics with nylon, poplin and fine knitwear.

Both women and men collections share color palettes grounded in classic hues of warm neutrals – with white, navy and black continuing their role as a core color. Energized and charged with intense splashes of bright pink, red and purple, the warm canvas acts as a unique and contrasting blend, showing off a cool yet feminine approach to summer styles.
