Chasing Mavericks

This sweet, gentle and affably film is an inspirational true story of a real life surfing phenom of  Jay Moriarity (Jonny Weston). When he is 15, Jay discovered the mythic Mavericks surf break, one of the biggest waves on earth existed just miles away from his Santa Cruz home. He was then enlisted help from a local legend Frosty Hesson (Gerard Butler) to train him to surf on it. The unique friendship transformed both of their lives far more than surfing. The film was made with the help of some of the biggest names in the surfing world and featured some of the most mind-blowing real wave footage ever captured on film. Some viewers resembled <Chasing Mavericks> to Luc Besson's free-diving epic <The big Blue> and Kathryn Bigelow 1991's <Point Break> with deadly obsession to fuel their respective story line. The picturesque cinematography is somehow integrated the reality with transcendental awe captured some great heart-pounding surfing scenes and gives a board's eye-view of the terrifying magnificence of the furious ocean. You don't have to be a surfer to appreciate this film but it certainly wouldn't hurt to see the majestic waves off the California coastline. Enjoy the ride!!
