NICCOLO CHONGQING WELLNESS/FITNESS - A Spa Oasis In The Sky

The pre-eminent hillside position of Niccolo Chongqing soars into the clouds and the wellness and fitness factor is truly looked after on the 52nd floor when you need a little pampering. The sky high spa oasis with signature and tailored treatments is another tranquil sanctuary of warmth to rejuvenate yourself after a busy day out and about.  mylifestylenews writes.

Chongqing is a city that requires a lot of energy to get around while enjoying the city sights and sounds, thanks to its extreme vertical geography of a city that is lacking of flat land. So, it is natural that you need a bit of “me” time to indulge yourself and to book a spa treatment to restore, revitalize and simply breathe.

The
Niccolo Chongqing Wellness/Fitness offers a high altitude wellness experience with panoramic views.

Your options for some down time are the fitness centre with state-of-the-art equipment that inspires movement at any hour, a large indoor 25 metre swimming pool and jaccuzi that is in a cavernous space and the wellness spa for customized body and facial therapies.

Earthy wall tones, soft wooden floors and arty black and white photography framed images create a soothing sense ambience. The arrival experience for the spa has that quasi ‘ZEN’ approach especially when passing through the minimalistic stone hallway adorned with glass lantern lamps on the floor lining each side of the corridor to create a more blissful ambience that leads you the inner section of the main reception area.

The small inner foyer set up is more like a spa boutique, highlighting tailored treatments that are to be taken place in various therapeutic rooms with La Mer skincare among other crafted essential nourishing and healing spa products to revitalize your weary skin.

At this point of the spa journey, the key focus is to rejuvenate the body, mind and soul. The Spa offers a full suite of services using world class products to deliver the relaxing pamper sessions with a treatment menu that combines signature experiences with facials, body massages, scrubs, etc. We were looking forward to our 60 minutes of bliss and quintessential body oil massage to drift into a state of bliss and unwind.

The initial service approach seemed a little perfunctory at the beginning, as there was an absence of arrival protocol – on arrival we were instantly escorted to our couples suite overlooking the skyline spaces for tailored rituals of renewal. We were seated at the corner of the suite to choose our preferred body oil for the later massage treatment, followed by an offer of a cup of hot tea to quench our thirst (this is normally presented after the treatment or cooler/herbal beverage instead) and then we were asked to change and put on the plush bathrobes to get ready for the treatment. We were expecting at least a simple foot cleansing or salt scrub ritual for sanitizing or disinfecting purposes, but that was omitted. The first pampering of bliss was discounted.

While we were ready for the spa treatment and affably ushered to the high-density cushioning spa bed with ergonomic support, the light began to dim. The treatment started immediately and disregarded by tuning down the spa music and adjusting the room temperature to suit the body temperature. As treatment began, the masseuses shoes clomped on the wooden floor and created that unnecessarily “jingle taps” that was distracting and finding hard to set our mind at peace and free.

We tried to redirect our focus by “self meditating” and began to let ourselves surrender to the outside world and be lulled into a state of bliss. The interior ambience becomes a second thought as you allow yourself to succumb to the magic hands of the therapists. The massage technique was pampering, with a traditional approach of finding knotted muscles and then gently kneading them with finger pressure points to exert some magic on the knots, the effect of which you could feel quite quickly. It had been some months since our last spa treatment, so the knots were quite firmly entrenched and it took some coaxing to release them, so as the expression goes, ‘no pain no gain’ and we quickly began to feel the gain. Each masseuse was monitoring our comfort pressure levels at regular intervals and once they realized the pressure we could take they let us drift off into a semi state of sleep.

The 60 minutes flew by and before you knew it, we were gently being woke up from the half asleep half awake somnolent state of affairs and being informed that the treatment had come to an end. You always tell yourself it is never enough especially when you are in a pampering stage, so we recommend to opt for the 90 minutes session as the longer downtime is always more preferable. It was the perfect antidote to the craziness of Chongqing’s sights and sounds to cocoon for an immersive, sensory experience that deeply integrates physical relaxation by melting away muscle tension as well as mental rejuvenation, leaving you feeling balanced, restored and glowing.

PARK CLUB HEALTH & DAY SPA Park Hyatt Melbourne - A Moment of Tranquility

For a moment of tranquility, be it a soothing and rejuvenating body massage or a thermal facial that makes your skin glow again from inside out, the Park Club Health & Day Spa at The Park Hyatt Melbourne would be an ideal pit-stop to take a step back from your busy schedule and to nourish and illuminate your inner senses. mylifestylenews writes.

When thinking of spa experiences, we often cast our mind back to Asia which perpetually offers a wide range of ancient, traditional spa retreats tucked away in lush tropical settings or natural onsen hot springs and so forth that concomitantly is channeling you to the right kind of senses to reclaim your calm and peace.

Cocooned on the 9th floor of the hotel, the Park Club Health & Day Spa focuses on the art of healing through restorative body therapies and holistic wellness rituals.

It is also the exclusive home of Omorovicza spa treatments in Australia by bringing the Hungarian thermal water-infused facials and is also popular with their Moor Mud Skin Therapy and Blue Diamond sessions, focusing on anti-aging, hydration, firming, illuminating and detoxification through facial massage techniques.

Other signature treatments can also be found from their crafted spa menu to help you to replenish and rejuvenate with the guide of the experienced therapists.

The waiting area is relatively small and occasionally bustling,
so the spa facilities can get busy at times as it is well equipped with sauna, hot tub, steam room and jacuzzi, not to mention the classy, well-maintained 25-meter indoor pool and the state-of-the-art fitness centre that is a sanctuary of peace and vitality.

We had booked in for the Omorovicza Queen Skin Therapy Facial in a couples room which was off the main corridor as you head toward the spa reception area. While it lacked that ‘zen’ fit out and was rather clinical, the ambience was calm and pleasant enough with super comfortable and height adjustable spa beds.

State-of-the-art fitness centre

25-meter indoor pool

The spa soundtrack was quite suitable and set the right mood and the facial began with a gentle dabbing of the face which is to deep cleanse the skin and is done in two cycles before the application of the facial product. Once the cleansing is done, the facial begins with gentle sweeping strokes starting from the bridge of the nose and fanning out to the cheeks and then the forehead and chin in a very relaxing motion. A hot towel is then laid on the upper shoulders and gradually brought up over the face to open up the pores, which is then repeated. By this point it is likely that you have already been lulled into a semi-state of sleep, because we certainly were!

The facial ritual blends highly sensorial textures and scents with nourishing and repairing activities, it is considered the ultimate rescue for sensitive, dry or reactive skin, stimulating cell renewal, as well as lifting and firming the skin, using Queen Oil which nourishes, rebuilds and re-plumps the skin.

The peaceful atmosphere
during treatment and gentle strokes created a true spa aura, as we never heard a sound from our therapists or of any interruption until we were gently woken at the end of the facial treatment. The massage techniques of lifting, firming and sculpting, along with the Omorovicza product application resulted in glowing skin that was self-evident. We truly felt like we had youthful-looking skin at the end and a most indulgent relaxation. Sometimes, we need to find the right kind of sense and zen to indulge ourselves and buy us back our very own me time from the bustling schedule to reclaim the calm and peace and you will be in for a treat.

AURIGA SPA Capella Shanghai - Unlock Your Inner Sense

Named after the constellation in which the Capella star sits, the award winning Auriga Spa at Capella Shanghai offers a world class conceptualized health and wellness for an unique and ultimate luxury spa to remember. mylifestylenews writes.

A good spa is hard to find, especially when you are looking for an ultimate indulgence as some of those wellness centres over promise and do not deliver. The Capella Hotel brand has garnered accolades as one of the pre-eminent boutique brands that truly delivers on personalized service. With the establishment of their in-house spas under the Auriga brand, signature treatments as well as bespoke specially-curated menu of treatments exclusive to Capella Shanghai make this wellness experience even more admirable.

Set in a type of dwelling with a courtyard surrounded by building, almost a siheyuan architectural design in a smaller scale that is commonly found throughout China, this Shanghai courtyard house urban sanctuary is a wellness centre with a difference, as its location is nestled in one of Xuhui District’s last remaining clusters of Shikumen architecture tucked away on one of the historic clustered laneways which is also the entrance next to the hotel reception that make the arrival experience even more charming and memorable.

Subsequently, there is a charm about the building and interior design that sets it apart from many other luxurious spas in new build properties, so we knew we were in for a treat. The interior is more like a classic residential old-world mix of wood panelling, Chinese wooden screens and plush furnishings that exuded a sense of warmth and comfort (a nice counterpoint to the winter temperatures outside).

As they could not build upwards due to the restrictions in the historic district, it goes down, so the space is far more voluminous than you would have first thought and encompasses a lot of amenities: 7 treatment suites; luxuriously appointed separate male and female change rooms; a relaxation lounge; sauna and steam room; vitality pool; movement studio; flotation tanks; a salt room; and a fully equipped gym.

In keeping with all of these facilities, each treatment room embodies the Auriga spirit,   marrying soothing simplicity and pure indulgence delivered with a tailored, holistic approach to your form, mood and senses incorporating traditional techniques and organic, natural ingredients. Luxury indulging is also aided by the use of the luxury skincare brand CARITA from Paris, so who could ask for anything more?

We were a little time poor, so we opted for the true Signature relaxation Massage. Auriga Therapists are champions of nature and we were escorted by our two warm and welcoming therapists to a couples suite, which we must say was quite a luxurious indulgence.

The couple suite is larger than we were expecting and you truly felt cocooned in this wellness retreat. Needless to say all the amenities are well thought through and tailored for, from cushion slippers to fluffy bathrobes and shower amenities which were such a delight to enjoy – not one detail had been missed and simply alluring.

Most importantly though, was the whole massage sequence, which they managed with aplomb. The aroma oil was duly selected to maximize the benefits followed by a foot cleansing ritual. As always, they asked about the ambience - the background music, temperature and lighting – and we were slowly slipping into relaxation heaven. We had each given instructions as to how soft/hard the pressure should be and we both agreed after wards that this had been followed meticulously. The long flowing strokes did wonders for our jet-lagged muscles and after some initial kinks being ironed out with some serious thumb/palm work, we slowly slipped into a semi-slumber for some much needed relaxation.

The 90-minutes spa treatment seemed like a blink of the eyes especially when you are indulged and being pampered in all senses. We were then adjourned to the graceful and cozy relaxation lounge to sip a cup of hot herbal tea to further sooth our bodies and calm our mind.

The Auriga Spa in Capella Shanghai is a destination that we think would be unrivalled for its ambience and thoughtful touches as well as its historic location. If the signature spa treatments not enough to satisfy your spa craving, the Auriga Detox Day would be another level of indulgence that offers a bespoke Sleep Therapy and Qi programme featuring Guasha and Tuina massage focusing on renewal and retrospection, tapping into celestial rhythm, marrying soothing simplicity and pure indulgence to unlock your inner sense and embody the true Auriga spirit.

THE SUKHOTHAI SPA - Discover “The Dawn of Happiness” Experience

Luxury spa options in Bangkok are plentiful and some brands just have not kept up with the times nor deliver on their brand promise, but with the recent upgraded expansion and luxury transformation of The Sukhothai Spa from the formal Spa Botanica, you will discover “The Dawn of Happiness” and find your contentment here.
mylifestylenews writes.

While The Sukhothai Hotel in Bangkok is infamous for its understated and sophisticated luxury and stunning contemporary classic Thai architecture, another ‘string to their bow’ is the re-opening of their Spa Botanica which is now officially called The Sukhothai Spa that has been expanded with newly added treatments as well as modern amenities and luxury facilities we could not be more excited about.

Nestled amidst 7,000 square metres of lush gardens, The Sukhothai Spa not only offers a harmonious escape from the buzzing sights and sounds of Bangkok, but you would also be hard pressed to think what they have missed, as the health and wellness covers a 25 metre long square infinity swimming pool and a state-of-the-art fitness centre (including Muay Thai instructors) all within a few steps of each other.

Being one of Thailand’s seventy-six provinces, the famous lower northern Thailand Sukhothai province is known as the “dawn of happiness”. With that inspiration, the newly opened Sukhothai Spa is unveiled, where the ancient Sukhothai-style culture is artfully integrated into its specific design and ambiance.

With the latest incarnation, bespoke health and wellness at The Sukhothai Spa has been elevated to another level of luxury. Not only has the architecture been re-imagined and expanded, we have to say it looks absolutely stunning as they are now featuring a luxurious and enormous Turkish Hammam, a state-of-the-art facial technology room with cutting-edge technology to elevate the experience to new heights without losing touch of what the sensory experience is all about.

The spa pavilion peaks above the sanctuary walls, so that when you step through the main external entrance into the spa courtyard, you are met with serenity and bliss in the form of reflecting pools either side, available seating in the secluded water garden for you to enjoy this urban serene oasis before or after the pampering  treatment.

In the flowing waters, you will be reminded of the interconnectedness of humanity and nature, then reconnected. There is no separation.

Of course, appearances are not everything, so we needed to see what this newly formed team could do, given that they had a ‘shiny new toy’ to play with and we were completely won over by the ambience, so what about the software?

Our arrival experience was rather warm and welcoming and attended to quite promptly. We were first greeted and then ushered to be seated in the expansive spa foyer to discuss the choice of treatments, with a brief consultation of the spa ticked with purposeful execution and we could not have felt any more special while some house “pouring brand” herbal tea was served instantaneously.

Once the formalities were out of the way, we were escorted to The Suphannahong Suite which is located on the second floor that is perfect for couples and we were suitably impressed. The interior design is subtle, including a traditional wooden Thai door adorned with elegant bronze handles. Inside, two separate elevated spa beds are set in the middle of the cozy room with bright and relaxed soothing ambience.

The interior design also features a “Pra-Kon” wall pattern representing the Thai House that exudes the contemporary beauty that embraces a simple and direct representation of Thai architecture. High ceilings and curved shapes add a touch of softness, complemented by a jacuzzi tub using green terrazzo and light green mosaic. The soothing colours and motifs give a sense of “zen” and nothing was over-wrought, so just the right taste in all things.

The Sukhothai Spa features traditional, result-driven and modern practices from diverse cultures by offering a comprehensive range of treatments and we had chosen the Sukhothai Signature Massage, as this is always the litmus test for us to see what the basics are all about. The signature treatment allowed us to experience a blend of soothing and invigorating massage techniques, while being rooted in the ancient wisdom of Oriental energy meridians – sounds like well-pleasing mumbo jumbo, but it really is a skillful combination of calming kneading and rejuvenating stretching and we were hooked.

Our therapists clearly knew how to tap into the Oriental meridians and committed to deliver personalized attention. We both wanted to get the knots out of our muscles which they did with great aplomb! Our stress was alleviated and some flexibility returned with the expert stretching techniques, which equally promoted a profound state of relaxation as promised.

Once our treatment was finished, we had the luxury of lingering in the environs of the spa pavilion to enjoy the facilities, including a salt-water lap pool, jacuzzi, saunas and steam rooms.

Additionally
, the wellness centre also offers quite an extensive array of services not only in the massage therapy but also beauty treatments, yoga sessions for beginners and intermediate level practices (a must go for the morning session), meditation classes and Pilates overlooking a wide and lush lawn, so everything is taken care of to enhance your experience from a complete holistic point of view in a discreet manner.

Every spa will tell you that they provide the most relaxing treatments with the best therapists, but we have found that to be wanting on many occasions with supposed esteemed Spa brands, so it was more than a delight to discover that The Sukhothai Spa really does have talented and well trained therapists and imbue the pavilion with relaxation and rejuvenation.

A sanctuary dedicated to wellness, such spa journeys of a tranquil and soothing haven are definitely a perfect serene escape for relaxation and rejuvenation. “The dawn of happiness” is found and we only wished we had booked longer treatments.
