HERMES @ Wanderland Dancing The Cane-Cane

Hermes held an opening exhibition themed <Wanderland> at the Saatchi Galley in London recently. Set designer Hubert le Gall plunges visitors, the flaneurs themselves, into a dream world of joy and fantasy, with a Paris-inspired landscape as its backdrop. The eleven rooms present a series of installations in various media, created by a diverse selection of artists. From the Parisian square, to the covered passage, or a cafe of forgotten objects, this veritable extended cabinet of curiosities will delight and intrigue visitors, inviting each of them to open their eyes, free their minds and be enveloped by the colour, sounds and images that surround them. Object on display have been carefully and lovingly gathered from the Hermes archive, the museum collection of Emile Hermes at 24 rue du Faubourg Saint-Honore in Paris and Hermes' contemporary collections : a bike, a bag, a pair of boots, a travel writing case a card deck, a watch from the house's collection...The spirit of the "Flaneur is at the heart of Hermes' creations and its inspiration. "Flanerie, that wonderfully liberating art of urban wandering, is second nature to Hermes, one could even say our most profound nature", recounts Pierre-Alexis Dumas, the house's Artistic Director, evoking the 1025 Hermes theme. Quintessentially Parisian, flanerie is about revealing in the unexpected. "The journey through Wanderland draws its coherence from two intrinsic elements of la flanerie: dreaming and freedom of spirit", explains Bruno Gaudichon, curator of La Piscine-Musee d'Art et d'Industrie in Roubaix, who has commissioned to create the exhibition. Exhibition ends 2nd May and will travel to Paris in September and onto Milan in December. Enjoy the video Wanderland "Dancing The Cane-Cane" directed by Romain Laurent and the protagonist Jeremy Belingard.

GIORGIO ARMANI @ FW2014/15 Eyewear Collection

GIORGIO ARMANI FW2014/15 Eyewear Collection  is a soft revolution. Changing, without ever distorting the rigorous, refined and timeless style of Giorgio Armani. New pieces offer exclusive and unusual materials: flannel, the dominant fabric of the Giorgio Armani fashion collection, and exquisite natural walnut wood. They are both interpreted in amazing and unexpected ways to create iconic frames with refined and sophisticated shapes, with original details such as lime lenses or gold trim. They are masterpieces of craftsmanship and design, which are unprecedented and offer the essence of contemporary luxury. New plays of light are seen on the matte metal that marks the fluid shapes and balanced forms of the Frames of Life collection, with a sophisticated vintage-inspired look.

<AR8041M> - FADE TO GREY
These glasses are daring and revolutionizing the use of fabric seen on the catwalk: gray flannel. Extremely versatile and elegant, the impeccable tailoring fabric entirely covers the frame, rendering it very feminine thanks to the contrasting touch of lime in its lenses and special metal plaque inspired by Giorgio Armani accessories collection. Soft and comfortable, this sun model is extremely pleasant to the touch and has a sophisticated allure and an innovative look. The model, available in gray flannel with lime green or dark gray lenses, is accompanied by it’s own special packaging.

<AR8039> Modern lines are offered for the man who loves contemporary design and timeless elegance, featuring a bold style highlighted by contemporary details, such as the finely engraved metal plaque. Made of exclusive acetates, are complemented by sophisticated tone-on-tone colored lenses. The front and temples offer maximum comfort and ensure their long lifespan.  Available in dark Havana brown with brown gradient lenses, marbled green and marbled gray, both with brown lenses.

<AR8044K> & <AR7055K>
Two models have been added to the Frames of Life line, an expression of a natural and never before seen luxury. For the first time, Canaletto walnut wood is used for the creation of glasses, enhancing the excellence of craftsman production of the highest quality. The result is a new, innovative design concept for frames that are masterfully handcrafted, underscored by a lightweight structure in gold plated metal. Clean and perfect lines with a tactile effect create the shape of the iconic pantos front. The temples with their wooden tips are special, with refined profiles with decor that recalls the edge of a coin. The glasses are available in an optical version with brown gradient lenses.

<AR7040> & <AR7057>
These men’s pantos model eyeglasses have a key bridge, clean and rigorous lines and a vague retro look. As the result of a combination of research, technology and design, this model (which also comes in a more squared version, AR7075) is made of advanced materials that provide flexibility and lightness.

The front, which has a thickness of 2.6mm, and the exclusively designed titanium hinge without screws give both frames a weight of only 15 grams. The laser etched logo detail on the outside of the temples, the iconic diamond rivet and Frames of Life logo engraved on inside of the left temple, identify the style as part of the Frames of Life line. Even the color palette is sophisticated, with elegantly faded colors on the front: matte Havana brown, matte Havana green with green temples and matte Havana blue with blue temples.

<AR7049>
Manicured details and a particularly feminine design lend a glamorous touch to these squared eyeglasses, made of a special marbled acetate. The hinge recalls the collection of Giorgio Armani handbags and accessories, the temples are enhanced by a metal plaque with the laser engraved Giorgio Armani logo, and temple tips personalized with the initials GA in their small elliptical rivets.

VILEBREQUIN @ A Beach With A View

Who hasn't dreamt of becominga chameleon on the beach? With the love for the beautiful coastlines. Vilebrequin and the artist Massimo Vitali bathing a form of art. It is an inevitable collaboration, Vitali has been passionately photographing beaches all over the world for the past 20 years and Vilebrequin has been dressing the chicest bathers since 1971. Together, they conceived an exceptional capsule collection where image, subject and object come together, thanks to a unique process of image manipulation and transformed the beach into an open-air gallery.

Just like Vilebrequin, Vitali invented a style. From the Venice Biennial to Art Basel Maimi, his large-format, inescapable works transport you to beaches filled wit bathers, where the water is crystalline and the horizon stretches as far as the eye can see. Vitali's style is often imitated but never equaled. Very few have ever captured with such brilliance the beauty of coastline and its ephemeral inhavitants.
