Kate Hudson x Michael Kors To Watch Hunger Stop

Michael Kors announced that actress, author, entrepreneur and humanitarian Kate Hudson is once again lending her talents to support Watch Hunger Stop, the brand’s annual campaign to fight global hunger. “This is the third year I’ve had the honor of collaborating with Michael on this important cause,” says Hudson. “In June, I visited schools in Cambodia, where the funds raised by Watch Hunger Stop enable the United Nations World Food Programme to feed children so they receive the nutrition they need to grow and to finish their education. It was an amazing experience and I can’t wait to share everything that I saw and learned there.”

Watch Hunger Stop, established in 2013, raises funds and awareness to help achieve a world with Zero Hunger. The brand's partner in the effort is the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), and funds go to support WFP's school meals program. The sale of special products is one way Watch Hunger Stop raises funds for WFP. This year, those products will include a special edition of the yet to release Michael Kors Access Sofie smartwatch and a unique version of the brand's bestselling Lon aviator sunglasses.
.

“I’m thrilled and grateful that my friend Kate is joining us once again in our efforts to end hunger,” says Michael Kors. “She and I share the belief that if we all work together, this is a problem we can solve. Watch Hunger Stop supports WFP’s school meals program, improving the lives of children who deserve the chance for a healthy, happy future. We’re proud to be able to help.”

Vivienne Westwood & Shanghai K11 Exhibition In Dialogue With Chinese Contemporary Art

Shanghai K11 Art Mall and K11 Art Foundation introduce a ground-breaking Vivienne Westwood show titled “GET A LIFE”: a fusion of fashion and art, through the lens of activism. The exhibition, co-curated by K11 and Westwood and her team, at the 3,000-sqm chi K11 art museum, traverses six themes from cutting edge fashion to environmental advocacy, and invites contemporary Chinese artists to respond to the icon’s work and vision within the same space. This merging of subject matter and creative disciplines is pioneering for China. The exhibition is open to the public from 20 December 2016 – 28 February 2017Vivienne Westwood has always used her collections and catwalk shows as a platform to campaign for positive activism. She has spent many years tirelessly speaking out about the effects of climate change and over consumption, and has mobilised international attention around ecological crusading. The exhibition, “GET A LIFE”, was curated to explore Westwood’s role as both an iconic designer and activist. On display are looks from Westwood’s latest campaigns as well as important archive collections including “Save The Rainforest” and “Mirror The World”.

As visitors journey through the six themes, they will come across Westwood’s various ecological philosophies presented through hand-drawn graphics, high profile campaigns such as Greenpeace “Save The Arctic”, which features a series of 60 star-studded photographs that were showcased in London’s Waterloo underground station in 2015, fashion film, photography, archive prints and illustrations. All will be displayed to showcase Vivienne Westwood’s ability to fuse fashion and social commentary, as well as K11’s commitment to bringing fashion and art to the public. The installation will thus pose questions and prompt debates: can fashion be the vehicle that changes our environment? How will Westwood’s inspiring journeys in design, art and activism, in turn, motivate China and the rest of the world?

In response to the theme, and furthering K11 Art Foundation’s commitment to incubating emerging talent in Greater China, the sixth theme will feature artwork of seven Chinese artists and an artist group, including Sun Xun, Wu Junyong, Zhang Ruyi, Yu Honglei, Wang Congyi, Nathan Zhou and Zhu Xi. Curator of the show is Song Zhenxi, who titled it “Monument of the Peach Blossom Valley” as a tribute to the eponymous Chinese poem, a dream-like recount of the chance discovery of a utopia untouched by humans. It echoes and underscores Westwood’s message of climate change, challenging viewers’ definition of people, nature and society. “GET A LIFE” is Shanghai K11’s second major cross-disciplinary exhibition this year and follows “Bagism” – which delved into the 400-year history of the bag and exhibited over 300 bags.  Fifteen Chinese contemporary artists participated in “Bagism”, which was held between July and October 2016. It attracted over 100,000 visitors and hosted 275 guided educational tours for the public.

Zenith 2016 Hong Kong Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride

Zenith sponsored and held an Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride 2016, in which smartly dressed men and women straddled the saddles of their motorcycles from Big Wave Bay to Kennedy Town to raise awareness and help raise funds for the cure for prostate cancer recently.

Founded in 2012 by Mr. Mark Hawwa, Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride (DGR) is a global charity event inspired by a photo of Mad Men’s actor sitting astride a classic bike and wearing his finest suit.

The themed ride aims to combat the often negative stereotype of men on motorcycles, and to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer research and men’s mental health programs of its charity partner Movember Foundation. With continuously increasing support from riders all over the world, DGR has become a popular and significant annual event.

Founded in 1865, Zenith manufactured one of the first automatic chronograph movements. For more than 150 years, Zenith has continued to create beautiful hand-crafted watches that are produced entirely in-house.

Already the official timekeeper of Tour Optic 2000, WinterRaid and Sportscar Vintage Racing Association, Zenith is now the sponsor of DGR, and the Zenith Pilot Ton-up DGR Special Edition is launched in celebration of this meaningful movement.

Mr. Aldo Magada, Chief Executive Officer of Zenith, remarked, “It is with much delight that we support this great initiative. DGR and Zenith share common values related to style and passion for mechanics, in which are perfectly reflected in Zenith’s timepieces.”

BVLGARI Serpenti Sparkling Roman Holiday

BVLGARI marked the start of the 2015 Hong Kong WinterFest together with the Hong Kong Tourism Board recently. At this year’s WinterFest held from 4 December 2015 to 1 January 2016, BVLGARI brings their own brand of revelry to Statue Square with “The Sparkling BVLGARI Roman Holiday”!

A large, jewelry-inspired “Serpenti” light art installation was unveiled to the public. Indeed, the Serpenti stood gracefully by the renowned Christmas Tree of the WinterFest; and proudly sparkling atop the annual fixture is the famous Condotti eight point star - a key design element of BVLGARI. It is an apt adornment, overlooking patterns on the floor that mirrors a virtual journey which BVLGARI created in collaboration with Google called “Roman Treasures”.

The Serpenti, as the centerpiece to the event, is an impressive testament to BVLGARI’s belief that there is no limit to aesthetic craftsmanship. The design process of the Serpent itself took six months, with the core of the creation serving like the embedding of precious gems for more than 50,000 LED lights, creating the effect of a scaled body of a serpent. Because the setting of the lights requires manual labor, the process of installation took more than two months.

The serpent has long been recognized as a sacred and mysterious figure in ancient Rome and ancient Greece, and was often used as a decorative element. In Greek/Roman mythology, for example, the goddess of wisdom and goddess of victory both held shields engraved with the serpent. The Greek believed the serpent to be a creature of wisdom and used it as a symbol for miraculous cures. Aesculapius, god of medicine and son of Apollo, is perceived to have a serpent wrapped around the staff he carries, which became the symbol used in modern medicine.

During this time of goodwill, it is also important to remember those less fortunate. Hence, these activities will give back to the community with all proceeds generated during this period donated to the charity organization, Save the Children Hong Kong.

Mr. Antoine Pin, Country Managing Director of Greater China & Australia of BVLGARI, added, “The Winterfest, for many years now, has been a shining beacon for joy and cheer during the festive season which bring happiness to the people of Hong Kong and also friends visiting us from near and far.

This year, it is with great pleasure that Bulgari can be a part of this meaningful occasion by adding our own glittering touch with the ‘Serpenti’ luminaire art installation, hopefully giving everyone a taste of a true, sparkling BVLGARI Roman Holiday!”

Trevi Fountain Comes Back To Its Original Splendour Following FENDI’s Majestic Restoration

After only 17 months since the beginning of the restoration works, and earlier than the scheduled date for the end of 2015, the water of the Trevi Fountain starts flowing back again thanks to the majestic restoration project financed by FENDI. During the restoration, the panoramic boardwalk conceived and realized by the Sovrintendenza Capitolina, made of transparent panels and directly accessible from the square, has enabled the visitors to admire the Trevi Fountain from a unique perspective, to physically step into a world-class artistic masterpiece and get closer to it than ever before. The renovation project, playing with creativity, has given life to one of the most innovative work-sites ever conceived before for this kind of operation, without interrupting the fruition of one of Rome’s most beautiful and visited monument.

“Giving back the Trevi Fountain in all its original splendor to the city of Rome, to the Romans and to the entire world is, once again, a valid example of the importance of a strong private-public synergy,” declared the Superintendent of Cultural Heritage for Rome, Claudio Parisi Presicce. “Such an important restoration couldn’t have been supported by the public administration without the significant contribution of FENDI, establishing a mutual, effective and original collaboration. A valuable partnership concludes Presicce that will be further consolidated and developed in 2016 with new and exciting initiatives”. On January 2013, FENDI announced the restoration of the Trevi Fountain in Rome under its patronage. This philanthropic act has started an ambitious project for the preservation of cultural heritage of the city of Rome: Fendi for Fountains. In addition to the Trevi Fountain, the project also included the restoration of the complex of the “Four Fountains”. For the year 2016, the Roman Maison confirms its commitment to the patronage for the City of Rome and its fountains, thanks to the Fendi For Fountains project, that will sustain the restoration and/or preservation of the Gianicolo, Mosè del Ninfeo del Pincio and del Peschiera Fountains.

“We are proud of this private-public cooperation and of giving back the Trevi Fountain to our city, Rome, and to the tourists of the world, after the Complex of the Four Fountains, in record time and in all its splendour. FENDI is Rome, and Rome is FENDI, and this is why in 2016 we will keep sustaining our city with the Fendi For Fountains project, in support of other four fountains,” states Pietro Beccari, Chairman and CEO of FENDI. The restoration works were carried out by ATI “Trevintre”, composed by Cooperativa CBC, coordinator, and by Società ARA s.n.c. and Tecnicon S.r.l.  The revision and management operations of the water system were carried out by ACEA ATO2. The new artistic illumination system was created by ACEA Illuminazione Pubblica S.p.A.. The revision and compliance measures of the electrostatic system for bird control were carried out by Galliani S.r.l. The new video surveillance system was realized by DAB.
