Holiday Inn Vana Nava Hua Hin - The Bold & Beautiful

With a prime position overlooking the Cicada Night Market, Hua Hin railway and to the sea beyond, as well as the latest attraction of Vana Nava Water Park, Holiday Inn Vana Nava Hua Hin is a design style establishment that has more than what an ordinary Holiday Inn’s chain of hotel standard would have to wow you from top to bottom. mylifestylenews writes.

Never in our travels did we expect to be wowed by a Holiday Inn experience, not only for its slick and fun-filled design concept that will certainly impress and inspire you upon your arrival. With the first impression for this newly opened property in Hua Hin four months ago and this being the first Holiday Inn water park resort in Asia, every check-in guest is invited for a complimentary access to the next door Vana Nava Water Park for an outdoor diversion for a few thrills and spills. While quite compact in size, there is enough to please all tastes and thrill seekers.

Beside the hotel’s stylish roof top infinity swimming pool, with such an added value to your stay by enjoying it’s many facilities in addition to what lies within the hotel, this is a well-designed staycation plan for a perfect getaway, not only for families but also leisure travelers alike.

The arrival entrance is a very resort style welcome, with a wide open lobby space and open-plan sitting, which is purely used for transportation arrival and departure points.

From here you are swiftly taken to the main hotel lobby on the 8th floor and this is the moment you realise you are not in a typical Holiday Inn hotel or resort, the spacious high ceiling is arty and draws ample natural light from the sea and creates a very cozy and friendly ambience.

From the arrival and right throughout the hotel, the design reference is fishing and with an ocean theme motif, even the signage is actually in the shape of fish, which is absolutely delightful and very playful.

Artistic and voluminous fish net installations hang up high on the ceiling contrasting the contemporary painting and vivid blue lounge chairs and natural artistic wood benches strike your eyes, let alone being incomparable to many other supposed 5-star design hotels.

An aerial view of the Vana Nava Water Park from the hotel.

At every step, the staff are so warm and attentive. After a speedy and efficient check in process, we were escorted to our room. Bright and bold design elements are seen everywhere along the hallway leading to the rooms. Our Ocean View room comes with oodles of space, a great balcony with a superb sea-facing view and an ‘open’ bathroom that can be closed with a sliding ‘window’ door panel (a smart design touch).

The room has pops of colours, from the blue/green fish scale tiles on the bathroom wall, to the bedside fire red wire caged torch lamps and the similarly designed large corner standing lamp. The devil is in the details, as they say, and the unusually shaped floor rug juxtaposes the entire slick and modern larger than life concept, harmonizing the mood and for not a moment you would think that you are in a Holiday Inn. There is no way you would relate any of the bold interior design elements from the predictable Holiday Inn standard. A truly stand out décor and with a big WOW factor.

Another hallmark of the brand is to keep things simple with the 300+ rooms and suites, so there is not too much of any one thing and you have so much space in which to spread oneself out to completely relax and get into the holiday mode quickly.

The 36-metre infinity pool on the 26th floor is another highlight of the hotel that offers jaw-dropping views over Hua Hin and has a swim-up pool bar. It is incredibly spacious and the pool seating surrounds thoughtfully designed to maximize the views, which was simply beyond our expectations.

Modern silhouette architecture design with a mesmerizing sea view

When the night falls, swing your mood to the Vana Nava Sky Bar on the rooftop, another outstanding feature offering stylish interior design, sensational views and a great beverage list. The Sky Deck with its unique glass floor that sees right through the ground level can hold up to 100 people for any private functions and event.

Breakfast served in Plamong is an enlivening experience for the same reason that boasts an array of Thai and international standard spread. With pops of colour in the design and a huge double height ceiling to create such a light and airy space in which to kick start your day. We couldn’t fault the variety and quality of food, from the sweetest tropical fruits to the tastiest local Thai noodles.

The dining room was packed yet the service staff never hesitated to smile and meet all your requests. Service is definitely a plus point here.

Hearty buffet breakfast serves at Plamong with great selection of local and international spread.

Beside the generous humble hospitality from its staff with a warm welcome awaiting every guest, the Holiday Inn Vana Nava Hua Hin’s heartfelt hospitality makes every moment memorable, which is what a true Holiday Inn should be. The hotel is certainly set to be one of the best family leisure destination resorts in the region and should be and we wish many other hotels would take a leaf out of this Holiday Inn design book!

PRADA Mod Special Collection

The new Prada Mod models, revisited with tapered profiles but adorned with the distinctive, bold geometric metal detailing, complement the collection. Prada enriches the Mod collection with a new eyewear model conveying a modern, feminine flair.

The large, slightly cat-eye front is highlighted by the sophisticated construction of the flat, exposed wraparound-effect lenses overlapping onto the frame. The model stays true to the bold character of the geometric metal details on the front, a key theme replicated throughout the entire collection. The array of colours features tones of Black, Burgundy, Dove and Crystal Lake, combined with temples in matching shades or in hues of Classic, Medium and Talc Tortoise with Prada lettering logo.

This optical frame from the new Prada Men collection has vintage inspirations. The acetate frame is characterised by an essential, elegant style, while the linear temples are adorned with the iconic metal plaque bearing the Prada logo. Available in the season’s colours: Burnt Sienna shaded Corn and Black shaded Charcoal, as well as classic shades of Black and Tortoise.

A new optical evolution of the Prada Mod collection. The model is defined by a fine mix of acetate and metal on the geometric-shaped cat-eye front and bold temples. The frame comes in metal tones of Black, Burgundy, Dove and Slate, contrasting with the temples in nuances of Tortoise, Medium Tortoise, Vermilion and Turquoise with Prada lettering logo.

MARGIELA / GALLIERA 1989-2009

MARGIELA / GALLIERA 1989-2009

Margiela’s way of unorthodox guises以非正統的偽裝,帶領先鋒,延續至今。

Antoine Dufilho Designs A Fleet of Seductive Automobiles For “Sequential”

Sequential is an avant-garde exhibit of eight automotive works by the talented French sculptor Antoine Dufilho. In this collection, Dufilho merges his passion for cars with principles from his studies in medicine and architecture, creating modern sculptures accentuating the classic curves of coveted automobiles. As avid car aficionados at the MB&F M.A.D.Gallery, we invite fellow enthusiasts to take a spin through the Sequential exhibit to discover the allure of this intricate automotive art.

Dufilho selects the crème de la crème of icon models when it comes to cars for the Sequential exhibit. The collection includes an enviable line-up of eight famed automobiles, from a Ferrari 250 GTO and Bugatti Atlantic to a Mercedes W196 Streamliner, scaled-down and transformed into impressive artistic renditions. The Bugatti Type 57S Atlantic and Aston Martin DB5 demonstrate the expertise of Dufilho: each sculpture decomposes the sleek lines and shapes of each vehicle into successive layers materializing into a modern automotive framework and revealing the contour of the car. “This sequenced representation provides a kinetic effect as the observer views the piece from different perspectives causing the sensation of a static object in movement. The dynamic effect is accentuated by alternating symmetries and asymmetries proving the feel of acceleration or deceleration,” explains Dufilho.

Perhaps one of the most important models in the history of Bugatti, sold from March 1934 to May 1940, is the Bugatti Type 57S Atlantic. Dufilho constructs a sexy silhouette of the iconic automobile with polished finished stainless steel plates and bronze wheels, parked on a polished aluminum base. The sculpture measures approximately 76 cm in length and 20 cm tall with a width of 33 cm and is limited to ten pieces in addition to two artist editions. Another example of Dufilho’s artistic technique uses shaped stainless steel pieces strategically layered to present his rendition of the Aston Martin DB5, a car produced from 1963 to 1965 and often referred to as the ‘James Bond car’ that first appeared in Goldfinger. The front end of the Aston Martin in the wall is racing through the polished stainless steel mounting. Only eight pieces and four artist editions are available in this limited edition.

The Sequential collection also offers the Mercedes W196 Streamliner, Auto-Union-Avus, and Porsche 356. In a similar style and available as a wall mount is the customized Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato. Dufilho expands his portfolio to include the legendary Ferrari 250 GTO model with a fuselage handcrafted in resin and finished with automotive paint enhancing the aerodynamic appeal of the car. The sleek lines and smooth, black surface of this work of art emphasizes Ferrari’s devotion to speed, even while parked on a 75 cm x 35 cm polished aluminum base. The Ferrari 250 GTO is available in a limited edition of eight pieces and four artist editions.

The creativity continues in a one-of-a-kind piece depicting the Jaguar E-Type, a superstar of the motoring world. In order to compose the sculpture Dufilho handcrafted 2,250 stainless steel rods, each measuring only 2 mm in diameter and colored to emphasize the exquisite aesthetics of the automobile. Once the rods are all strategically and meticulously placed, one by one on a rosewood base, viewers can discover a lightweight and airy representation of this renowned motorcar. Due to its unique construction, when rotating the base or walking past it feels as though the car is in motion. Standing 24 cm tall and 78.5 cm in length this miniaturize Jaguar is sure to look better in the home than the garage.

Dufilho’s educational background in architecture and medicine provides a conceptual foundation in which his innovative artworks are established. During his medical studies he was drawn to anatomy and the complex structures that are essentially hidden by skin while his architectural education taught him technical skills, introduced him to the history of art, and a new way of thinking. “Combining these two schools of thought has allowed me to develop a new structural approach, including the framework (skeleton) that can be hidden by a "skin" as enhancement, forming an aesthetic and dynamic meshing that strengthens the architectural intentions,” as Dufilho describes.
