To launch the Men’s Spring 2013
collection 3.1 Phillip Lim released of an exclusive
short film featuring the undiscovered art of "Tricking." Created by 3.1 Phillip Lim and
celebrated fashion photographer Jacob Sutton. The short showcases the Spring
2013 Men’s collection in fight, on real life battling ‘Trickers’ Jason Mello
and Micah Karns. Tricking is a combination of gymnastics,
martial arts, and b-boying or bread dancing. The martial arts components take
disciplines from taekwondo, capoeira and wushu or kung fu consisting of a
combination of kicks, flips and twists pushing the boundaries of creativity in
what the physical body can do. A cult phenomenon still relatively untapped –
‘Trickers’ from around the world gather in underground spaces to battle using
