Walter Lange and A. Lange & Söhne “Caesar Best Honoris” Award

During a festive awards ceremony in Bucharest Walter Lange received the “Caesar Best Honoris” award. The “Caesar Awards”, which were bestowed for the sixth time, are the leading distinctions for luxury brands in Romania. About 150 VIP guests, including personalities from the business and public service communities attended the Caesar Awards Gala at the JW Marriott Bucharest. The awards are bestowed by the subscribers of “Caesar”, Romania’s leading luxury lifestyle magazine, who had voted before the event for the most relevant luxury brands from five categories. After a presentation of the winners in the product categories, Dan Vardie, founder and editor of Caesar magazine, presented the “Caesar Best Honoris” award to Walter Lange for his impressive achievements in the international watch industry and to the A. Lange & Söhne brand. In just two decades, his entrepreneurial vision, talent and initiative shaped the venerable Saxon manufactory into a true reference in the world of fine watchmaking.

In his words of thanks Walter Lange, who turned 87 this year, reminded of the traditional brand’s successful comeback, which was enabled by the unique combination of refined craftsmanship and technical innovations. “From the very beginning it was important to us”, he said, “to make watches that in their elegant, classic design were also ultra-modern. Above all I  wish to thank the employees at home for everything because by their commitment they have made A. Lange & Söhne into what it is today.“It was Walter Lange’s great-grandfather Ferdinand A. Lange who, in 1845, started to manufacture pocket watches of the highest quality in Saxony and thereby established the reputation of the German fine watchmaking industry. Today, Lange produces just a few thousand timepieces in gold or platinum cases only. They are exclusively equipped with in-house developed movements, decorated and assembled by hand. The biggest success stories of the brand included iconic timepieces like the LANGE 1 with the first outsize date display in a serially produced wristwatch and the LANGE ZEITWERK with the first precisely jumping numerals display of singular clarity.
