《6 Minutes @ Craig Lawrence》

A graduate from Central of St Martins Fashion School and having worked with Gareth Pugh for six collection producing knitwear for his collection. Ipswich, Suffolk origin young designer Craig Lawrence is known for his pioneering approach to knitwear combining artisan knits with unexpected textile applications and innovative techniques talks to mylifestylenews his design style and inspiration in fashion.

Hong Kong fashion scene is exciting, pretty much fashion forward and with a lot of contrast. I am excited to see Hong Kong fashionistas wearing my design since my collection can be found in a local boutique in Russell Street in Causeway Bay.

I get my inspiration from all kind of aspects, old friends, theater and plays especially silent theater, couture house, French knitwear and sometimes I got inspired by my own show. I like things that are more dramatic and theatrical.

I have redefined the genre of knitwear for a contemporary context and continue to break boundaries each season with my increasingly complex collection. That is how I like to challenge myself. After working with Gareth Pugh for six seasons, I have gone on to continue innovating  in the field of knitwear in which I am good at to creating contemporary womenswear collection backed by The British Fashion Council's <NewGen> initiative and now receiving the sponsorship for the fourth season.

You will be expected to see lots of knitting with unconventional materials to create voluminous, fluffy and shiny knits in my SS2012 collection that I bring to Hong Kong, it is like a Stolen Innocence kind of concept. That is my signature style as all of my pieces are incorporate Kyototex yarns which is a special metallic-foil wrapped yarns that I used in my collections.

I am still working with Katie Shillingford, a London-based fashion editor and stylist on each season and has spearheaded the campaign for digital fashion producing fashion films for the past four season.

I like to explore with new technology and techniques use in fabric, keep on experimenting in different texture contrast and add on more playful element in my design and have them tour around the world and widen the horizon with new markets.

I like to have a work and life balance, continute to do my show and seeing more people wear my design.
