《6 Minutes @ Risto Bimbiloski》

Macedonia born Paris based Fashion Designer Risto Bimbiloski well known for his "East-West" balance influential designs and a contracted freelance designer for Louis Vuitton men's knitwear line until October 2009 to devote more time to his own label. Bimbiloski or better known as Risto, brought his latest SS2012 collection to Hong Kong and presented during the Hong Kong Fashion Extravaganza Gala evening recently. He talks to mylifestylenews his views in fashion and enjoy being out of control.

My initial influences were the realities of common socialistic lifestyle and early pop images on MTV. I went to Duperre School of Applied Arts in 1993 and this enriching experience resulted in initial research of the inner "East-West" balance in which it still quite prominent in my design today.

It all started as a family business and evolved as an onward vision of a group of common-minded individuals. The ethics and aesthetics are based on embracing the traditional and translating it into a modern look. My focus is to offer a story, history and heritage, that is my design philosophy.

My brand <Risto Bimbiloski> opens it doors in my home town Macedonia in 2007.The initial starts was solely dedicated to the ever growing needs of the knitwear, artisan and the cut and sew collection. I dropped the last name in a full collection in 2009 which is <Risto> now become quite a well received name and successfully showing in New York and other part of the world.

My SS2012 collection inspiration came from an urban girl who is rebellious yet elegant, you will see there are digital flora prints merge with leather and knitwear.

There are quite a few people that I would like to do a collaboration with, people like Comme des Garcon and Alaia, street people who wear clothes in their own integration and interpretation. The people that I've met that have a strong personality and character. Also, new artists that have the same level of modernism could also inspire me as well as people working in digital design.

I like complex challenges and like making mistakes and use my mistakes to make progress and improvment, and grow from there. I do also enjoy being out of control as it gives me surprises, either good or bad surprises, that kind of excitment inspire me more and I take the opportunity to dominate and find the solution from there and that gives me satisfaction. I always think my design is always in progress, because of that, I can always perform better.

I enjoy seeing my collection traveling around from one city to another instead of just showing one season at one place. The reaching out is a great contentment.

I like going through my friends' wardrobe to find inspiration from what they have especially their vintage collection. It is a great fun when they allow me to do so, of course they do.

Hong Kong fashion scene is quite amazing, the city urban look is eccentric. I am not quite sure about what the street people would be wearing but I think they are quite daring to create their own style.

When I am not a fashion designer one day, I will probably open a restaurant as I enjoy cooking and love to have a space of my own to share some good times with my friends.

I try to avoid the word "ideal" but I enjoy to live a life that fill with excitement, to be able to run my own projects with financial stability. What I am having now I am pretty much contented.
