H&M @ SS2014 Men & Women Collection

H&M Spring  2014 women collection goes bohemian urban style this spring with a collection full of playful and personal style. Snug patchwork jackets of leather and suede modernise the look, and graphic-printed waisted jackets give a more sculptured silhouette. Frilly blouses add softness, and a long-sleeve top in matt metallics toughens the look.

Printed suede leggings bring texture, while skinny jeans have the slightest kick at the ankle. Delicate cotton voile dresses have vintage romance and graphic-print dresses are covered in fortune teller symbols for a sense of city mysticism.

This bohemian feeling continues in to the woman’s accessory wardrobe where big jewelries and belts with mystical elements integrate perfectly with the clothes. Thigh-high stretch suede boots show that flats have attitude and to finish the look fake fur waistcoats are the season’s essential.

“I love how you can have so much fun with the city look at H&M this spring. The style is both tough and playful, and can be worn in so many different ways. It’s how many women are dressing today, expressing themselves through decorative pieces mixed with urban essentials to create their own personal wardrobe,” says Ann-Sofie Johansson, H&M’s Head of Design.

For men,  tailoring and sportswear merge this season, as casualwear smartens up and suiting has a crisp relaxed cut. Flight jackets set the sporty yet smart silhouette, while suits have a relaxed cut that’s still neat and modern. Knee-length spring coats are perfect for layering, and cropped parkas add an urban feel.

For extra sportiness, some blazers and city coats are trimmed and taped as if they have been turned inside out. Texture is crucial in every garment, especially in knitwear with 3D mesh sweaters, while pattern plays a strong role. Intense layers of paisley prints or abstract nature prints are found on parkas, shirts and shorts for a sense of city protection. Tailored shorts are smartened by pleats and seersucker shorts or trousers are made sporty with their drawstring fastening.

“I love that there’s such a blurry line in menswear right now between tailoring and sports.
For spring at H&M, the two sit naturally together, with smartened casualwear, and suits
that have a more relaxed but still sharp feel. It’s all about pieces that work for the way
men live their lives today,” says Andreas Löwenstam, H&M’s head menswear designer.
