GOGYO Introduces Limited Summer Menu

Finding a feel good ramen place in Hong Kong on a Friday night can be quite challenging especially in the Central neighborhood. Trying to avoid the office crowd that frequent happy hours is another consideration to stay around Central precinct before you even decide when to go next for dinner. Right above the Airport Express in IFC mall, Gogyo gastropub could do you for a one-stop fits all satisfaction. By mylifestylenews.

Founded by Shigemi Kawahara, this internationally renowned “Ramen King” in 2003, with stores in Kyoto, Nishiazabu and Nagoya and now Gogyo Hong Kong strives to provide an authentic Japanese dining experience in a casual-chic ambience. Gogyo kicked off their new summer menu a while ago with a limited serving while stock last and really not to be missed new items beside their regular five legendary ramen and alongside with a selection of over 40 items including tsumami, main dishes, desserts, as well as Japanese craft beers and beverages from the regular menu. Despite our reservation was made and still yet they couldn’t locate our booking. Minutes later, it was resolved by one of the store supervisors and led to a small in-room dining behind the busy bar top counters that have been filled with the happy hour crowd.

A short discussion later with the server for what is being introduced from their summer specials plus one or two picks from the menu, great minds thinks alike and right away the in house hand crafted beer Weizen was offered to accompany with the <Midori> Hamachi Carpaccio with grapes. The Weizen beer is a crowd-favorite at the Japan beer festival, fruity aromas of banana and cloves with a soft refreshing finish. Shashimi or fish Carpaccio is never or priority but this Hamachi Carpaccio paired with some sweet and refreshing halved seedless Japanese grapes is a great starter and can’t really get the hands off. Thinly sliced Hamachi flesh is lightly red and rich with deep flavor and not really oily in texture where normally the winter ‘s catch are meant for. A must order!

<Roast Duck With Fruit Salad>
The thoughtful server Leung intended to change our palette right away by serving a warm cooked dish. The lightly grilled duck breast are sliced into perfection accompanied by specially mixed teriyaki sauce. The accompanied pine nut figs salad is something you may want to ask for extra serving. Another triumphant creation.

<Pan-fried Slow Cooked Pork In Special Miso on Teppan>
Another signature dish being introduced on the menu. The pork was a little dry and less tasty marinates. Portion are big and best to share if you are willing to sample more of other Gogyo’s delicacy.

<Whole Tomato Salmon Risotto>
Enough of meat for the moment and next came the whole tomato stuffed with salmon risotto in creamy cheese sauce. Japanese-Italian always has a way to create the mood-food to please diners at all ages and this invention is with no exception.

<Consommé Ramen Royal Roast Wagyu>
This critically acclaimed consommé Ramen offered in Gogyo since last year is now coming back with popular demand and on a limited offer only. This French consommé broth comes with black truffle egg tofu and special toast wagyu that’s worthy of being a standalone dish. A bowl of rice seasoned with Japanese dashi and olive is served along with the ramen rounded up with more than a satisfactory craving on both ramen and rice dish simultaneously.  Such luxury is only available in Gogyo where the possibilities of ramen are constantly expanded.

<Apple Marron Monaka>
Japanese dessert is always delicate. The Apple Marron Monaka tartlet comes in a mouth full with the chocolate mousse base topped with mint leave to give a refreshing favour finished with the ice cream aside.
