Salvatore Ferragamo presents its new Pre-Spring 2018 bag, Sofia Rainbow, an updated version of the iconic best-seller of the Florentine Maison, the Sofia bag, which was originally created for the Spring-Summer 2009 collection. It perfectly combines iconic brand elements and a modern, feminine attitude.
This beautiful and understated bag is available in two sizes in a range of sophisticated colours, including Bonbon, Rhododendron, Pale Blue, Opal, Lilac and Jasmine. It comes in calfskin or luxurious, glossy elaphe. A top handle bag of compact, geometric design, Sofia Rainbow is suitable for any occasion.
The outside of the bag displays a sophisticated colour-block effect. On the inside a surprising feature waits to be discovered. Opening the bag and the two side zips, the gusseted pocket reveals a series of multicolour compartments that pay homage to the legendary Rainbow sandal made by Salvatore Ferragamo in 1938 for Judy Garland, an example of the brand’s creative use of colour that remains one of its most defining features today.
The complex construction of Sofia Rainbow makes it a real masterpiece of Italian craftsmanship. The embossed border, which is like a frame to the bag, outlines its profiles and runs from the flap to the back and to the bottom in one single piece. The numerous external and internal profiles of the gusseted pockets, carefully painted in the colour of the bag, are a further reflection of great manual skill.
