Giorgio Armani Dresses The Italian National Team @ 2016 Olympic Games

Giorgio Armani dresses the athletes for the official opening ceremony of the Olympic Games that was held in Rio de Janeiro. For the occasion, the designer has created a stretch-cotton double-breasted blue suit with removable hood and straight, flat-front trousers with slit pockets. The hood adds a sporty touch to the formal tone of the outfit, while the natural fabric ensures comfort and performance.

A blue polo shirt with ITALIA embroidered in gold on the back and shoes featuring the colours of the Italian flag on the upper complete the outfit. ‘I’m very happy with this renewed collaboration’, says Giorgio Armani. ‘I find creating uniforms for athletes a fascinating exercise in style, as I need to combine elegance and practicality, which is what I’ve always been interested in as a designer. In this suit, the double-breasted style sets a formal tone with aplomb, while the hood adds a decidedly sporty touch. The stretch material makes the real difference: true elegance always implies practicality, and athletes are the best testimonials of this concept’.
