VICTORINOX Swiss Army Introduces The Alpnach Mechanical Watch

Victorinox Swiss Army launches new three-hand models of its popular Alpnach Mechanical Collection, named after the Swiss Army’s Alpine air base that is home to the legendary Cougar AS 523 helicopter in Hong Kong recently. In its tribute to the glorious days of aviation, the lounge is decorated with fine, polished artefacts preserved from aircrafts, including door, propeller and engines other machine parts. It provided the perfect ambience for the guests to enjoy a compelling journey through the making of the Alpnach, from how its precision and critical functionality mirrored that of the legendary Cougar AS 523 helicopter, to how the actual military and aerospace-inspired designs manifested in the timepiece.

Blades that slice through the air with force, an engine of outstanding precision, critical functionality, military and aerospace inspired design. Sleek, sporting and masculine and there is a good reason behind: a pilot must be able to obtain important information at one glance during his journey. Nothing is left to chance. Another eye-catching feature of the three new models of Alpnach Collection was on the see-through case back showing the oscillating weight with four blades inspired by the AS 523 Cougar helicopter. The design elements offered an innovative but precise interpretation of both the form and functionality of the legendary helicopter, and inquired about the fascinating details of Alpnach Collection. The perfect, uncluttered clarity of timepiece’s design: the dials of the timepieces resemble instruments – their dials, counters and displays are perfectly legible.

The three new Alpnach Mechanical models are based on the legendary Cougar AS 532 helicopters of the Swiss Army, which are stationed at the base in Alpnach, in the heart of Switzerland. Each honors the key values that have forged the reputation of a brand founded in 1884: Swiss quality, functionality, innovation and design. The sharply engineered design is extremely graphic and angular, with key elements borrowed from the helicopter’s rotary blades, cockpit, cyclic stick and turbines. Tough and exceptionally reliable, the Alpnach, like its inspiration, is a versatile utility machine operational in even the most extreme conditions. The sharply engineered design is extremely graphic and angular, with key elements borrowed from the helicopter’s rotary blades, cockpit, cyclic stick and turbines.
