SELENA GOMEZ In Custom Coach @ 2017 MET GALA

Selena Gomez, the new face of Coach, wore a custom look designed by Coach Creative Director Stuart Vevers to the 2017 Met Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City recently. Fusing Coach’s love for nostalgic Americana and cool feminine detailing, the 1930s lingerie-inspired dress captured Selena’s ease and style.

The gown in pale blush-colored silk chiffon featured vintage lace paneling complemented with a deep neckline. Hand-sewn prairie floral embroidery with multicolored sequins reference prints found in the Coach Pre Fall 2017 runway collection. Meticulously detailed, the intricate embellishments added a youthful feel against the feminine lace detailing. Selena’s gown was further accented with a tiny Kisslock Frame Bag. Crafted in champagne- and graphite-hued leathers, the archival-inspired design featured a playful cherry print and metallic snakeskin handles. The finishing touch: “Love yourself first” a nod to the singer’s tattoo embossed on the bottom of the bag.

“The starting point for this dress was Selena,” said Stuart Vevers, who walked the red carpet with the star. “We were inspired by the nostalgic glamour of the 1930s but wanted it to feel very ‘today’ and evoke a cool feminine ease that felt modern and personalized.”

“I couldn’t have been more excited to attend the Met Gala this year with the incredibly talented Stuart Vevers,” said Selena Gomez. “I was honored to wear the beautiful dress he created. I spent the last couple of months working closely with Stuart and Coach and I was happy to finally share what we’ve been up to with everyone.”
