Club Monaco FW2014 Collection @ Taking Inspiration From Icons of The 70’s

Club Monaco FW2014/15 collection taking inspiration from icons of the 70’s. For July; Club Monaco utilized classic neutrals with pops of rose, pale pink, and tulip-red, alongside paisley and floral prints. As the summer comes heightens, the colors evolve into richer tones of plum, navy, and tan with a hint of red through the accessories to add an unexpected splash of color. As fall approached we celebrate with dark florals, peppered with shades of purple and pinks to complement the changing of the season.

The men’s collection explores the idea of modernity and patterns in new updated classics while playing with different fabric textures. The color palette for the season is grey based with red, navy, and tan for July; maroon and purple accents for August; and finally, hints of army green for September.

The Holiday collection inspired by the dark elegance of winter coupled with a modern take on two stand-out eras in fashion. This season Club Monaco takes a journey to Peru, and continues to evolve Holiday gifting for men with options from across the globe.

“The 70’s are always a source of inspiration,” said Caroline Belhumeur, head designer for womenswear at Club Monaco. “This season, we used fabric, embellishments, and color that has a 70’s meets 90’s feel. It’s not vintage, rather fresh and updated. The result was a sensual vibe created through the strategic use of leather.

There is also an emphasis on new proportions and shapes, and we see this with sweaters and outerwear which are oversized, yet, maintain an edgy, feminine feeling.” With a 70’s inspiration Caroline embraced true winter colors: olives alongside different levels of Club Monaco’s heritage colors of black and white. The collection welcomes winter and gives the customer a mix of cozy, fuzzy textures.

Alongside the oversized sweaters sits the Luxury Weekend Modern Peru capsule collection launching in October. These chunky sweaters, ponchos, and accessories are made from Peruvian alpaca and yarns which is hand knitted with the women’s cooperative, Manos, in Uruguay. This world renowned coop is known for its craftsmanship and their wares perfectly complement the winter pieces from Club Monaco.

As December approaches the collection celebrates fringe, lace, and tassels which are peppered throughout the line. Colors evolve into richer tones of plum, navy, and metallic. Pearl embellishments on jumpsuits, skirts, and dresses add an unexpected twist to traditional holiday dressing.

The men’s and women’s collection complement each other. Deep blues, floral patterns, and chunky textures make a seamless transition to the colder months for both men and women. “For fall we keep evolving and pushing our brand forward, said Aaron Levine head of men’s designs. “The key factors we considered most were fabric and silhouettes, while continuing to refine the collection as a whole. It’s important to make sure our fits are familiar, yet polished. We want our guys to be blown away at the continued evolution of our offering.”

The men’s collection explores the idea of elevated luxury with updated fits and detailing in all categories. The collection takes outwear to an unexpected level this season with updated topcoats, peacots, and blazers for work to weekend wear. Unexpected editorial additions enhance the collection, including leather sweatpants for men, Zespa sneakers out of France, and the sellout leather bombers are back this season with a new, modern fit.
