The film based on the Chinese legend of the Yang clan in which seven brothers battle to save their father's life and bring him home but only one will survive. Filmmaker Ronny Yu's first first in seven years draws a legendary tales of Chinese folklore which have been adapted into numerous films, TV dramas and operas. The battle scenes are rather impressive and well captured with the impressive production set despite the poor screenplay and finding not enough time to develop the bonding in between the band of brothers. Female characters did not take any main lead role as the film focuses more on the seven brothers masculinity (to some still a little flamboyant) fighting for dignity and scarifies but still not enough to provoke the heart with a battle cry.
