Weekend by Max Mara FW2012 Collections @ A Journey Through the Cultural and Leisure Capitals

Weekend by Max Mara FW2012 is a journey of vision and colours. The Max Mara’s range of ensembles for work and leisure tracks through the cultural capitals of the world from New York, Boston, London, Edinburgh and Paris, concluding at the scenic Swiss resort of St Moritz.
The New York Theme is on natural earth tones of whites, navy, denim blue, bright blues and dark browns dominate, with graphics and stripe patterns. A causal, layered look, with long skirt, knitwear and coats form the silhouette. Materials are double layered-wool, nylon, viscose jersey, cashmere mix, cotton-silk and polyester taffetas. Key items being the double layered-wool and nylon color block coats, cashmere mix cable knitwear, cashmere mix patterned capes and boxy jackets.
The Boston theme ranging from camel, orange and coffee tones reign in this series, with wool coats, sporty padded jackets trimmed with fur. Graphic stripes, plisse finishes (a puckered or wrinkled finish on the fabric), redingote shaped-coats, and egg-shaped hounds-tooth coats make up the variety of looks.

The London British style, as realized by Weekend by Max Mara is about vintage checks, stripes and prints in camel, dark greys, bright yellows and different tones of reds. Materials are tweed, double layered wool and polyester, gabardine, cashmere mix, technical jersey, nappa, and prints on knitwear. The essential looks are printed knitwear (wool and cashmere), Polyester down coat with down bag, and masculine pure wool coat.

The Edinburgh theme venture into the Scottish countryside with tartans, checks, herringbone weave and camouflage presented in a mix of knits with technical fabrics, down jackets in tweed and slim fit pants in jersey. The highlights are the double layered-wool trench coats in powder tones, down jackets with oversized collars and pleated skirts. The down jackets also feature inner pocket for ipod and iphone, and loop for earphones.
The Paris theme ensembles colour blocked in blacks and pinks. Femininity is projected in the collection, with soft materials such as silk, cotton, viscose and polyester crepe de chine. Ruffles, pleats, draping and floral print, with stripes and polka dots form the essence of the Parisian spirit. Key pieces include boxy short down coat with removable collar and nappa leather jackets.

The Saint Moritz journey concludes with a ‘feeling at home’ holiday break at picturesque St Moritz. Knitwear is the key, with scarves, gloves, hats, down jackets with fur, tweed on coats and dresses, and a colour palette in ivory, grey mélange, beige, and black and white. Inspired by skiwear, the monochrome range is enhanced by stripe patterns, flower prints on jersey, velvet, wool and cashmere knits. Macramé details are added on the padding.
