6 Minutes @ Henrik Lindberg

LINDBERG, the world-renowned Danish eyewear company launched a new range of frames in the Asian market, aimed at discerning, quality-conscious wearers who wish to stand out from the crowd. Henrik Lindberg, CEO and the second generation of the100% family run business continues to expand his vision in Asia enthusiastically talks to mylifestylenews how curvaceously elegant and technically brilliant Lindberg eyewear is......

LINDBERG is privately owned by Poul-Jørn and Hanne Lindberg, Henrik Lindberg and Pernille Lindberg as well as our production locations in Aarhus, Denmark and in Subic Bay at the Philippines.

My father Poul-Jørn Lindberg who is also a optometrist and Hanne Lindberg set up their own business, Lindberg Optik in the centre of Aarhus, Denmark in 1969. I joined the company in 1984-1986 while my father and the architect Hans Dissing design the AIR Titanium frame.

At the same year, the AIR Titanium was introduced in Danish national television by the Danish artist Per Arnoldi in his design programme”Why does it look the way it does?”. We gained more recognition since then as well as Her Royal Highness Queen Margaret II of Denmark became one of the clients in the LINDBERG Optik store and wears the Air Titanium spectacles.

Through out the years we won some numerous awards and other recognitions included the Danish ID Award and the Japanese Good Design Grand Prize Award – the unofficial world championship in industrial design.

From 1992 - 2007, we added some new products to our portfolio, Air Titanium Rim, LINDBERG Strip, LINDBERG Acetanium, LINDBERG 3000X, the rimless LINDBERG Spirit, LINDBERG Kid/Teen, LINDBERG Sun and LINDBERG Precious.

LINDBERG’s top collection, LINDBERG Precious consists of solid 18-carat gold frames, platinum frames and natural horn frames and is one of the most exclusive and prestigious international eyewear collections.

In 2009, LINDBERG was granted the exclusive designation “By appointment to the Royal Danish Court.”

And today, we have received 47 design awards and employs 500 people and does business with 90 countries.

Our passion from the start was to give our customers a sense of design, comfort and individuality in the LINDBERG eyewear. We believe that it is a great advantage that all our products are designed and produced at LINDBERG’s own facilities.

This allows us to play with many unconventional solutions and has earned us many international awards this far. Original design solutions and real craftsmanship allows the wearer to have that strong feeling of individuality that so many are looking for - a fine alternative to today’s mass market. This is the brand's philosophy.

LINDBERG is a unique mindset that has revolutionised the international eyewear business – all the way from design, materials and manufacture to sales, distribution and service. It is an idea about how to do things. Either do them exceptionally well – or not at all.

Several international design awards already bear witness to the success of LINDBERGs efforts as do distinctive LINDBERG frames on the noses of the discerning, and whenever a design statement needs to be made.

We insist on no-compromise excellence in every detail, every process, each material and every surface. And the company achieves this by doing everything themselves, inventing new processes, re-engineering key components and materials, and improving existing machinery.

We start with what’s best not what’s standard practice. So no mass production or mindless automation here. Every frame and component is made to order at the unique do-everything facility in Denmark, amid a heady mix of modern technology, traditional craftsmanship and design magic that means they constantly reconsider and improve every detail and every process again and again.

Everything we do is steeped in the Scandinavian design tradition of discreet, classic elegance and carefully considered simplicity.

LINDBERG eyewear tells the world you subscribe to a different way of thinking, and have connoisseur’s appreciation of exceptional design and high-quality materials. very frame is a statement about aesthetics, technical innovation and impeccable craftsmanship.

Our design features responsibly sourced materials selected for timeless elegance, exceptional strength and distinctive visual impact. These exclusive materials include titanium, acetate, gold, platinum and diamonds – and certain LINDBERG models are also available in eye-catching natural animal horn.

Patented LINDBERG technical innovations, along with carefully engineered and crafted details, have revolutionised modern eyewear. We’ve done away with everything that isn’t essential including all screws, rivets and welds. This means our frames are incredibly strong and flexible yet among the lightest and most comfortable in the world.

We make each LINDBERG frame to order, combining unique materials, production technologies that we’ve developed ourselves, and the best of individual craftsmanship. Each frame is customised to your particular preferences, hand-finished and individually numbered.
There are always challenges to source for materials and to work with new technology and design with less steps. The frame, the case, the mirrior needs strict quality control and delivery time is also another essential challenges.
The brand's DNA is always low weight, 100% proper fitting and comes with different nose pad.

A more visbile frame will give you a stronger personality and simplicity design & functionality are also need to be taken into consideration.
To pick a pair of suitable glasses, the combination of the temple is essential, you can pick visvible or non visible mirriors. There are also small details that adhere to fit into different faces, the adjustment shall be flexible and to keep it within the level and built for different purpose to fit.

We’ve turned the world of eyewear upside down. No mass produced, take-it-or-leave-it designs and we give you the design, details and materials you prefer.
