《CLUB MONACO @ Fall 2011》

This season, Club Monaco mixes 60s sundry with 70s sophistication, creating a rich collection in a warm palette of cinnamon, berry and gem tones on clean shapes with touches of vintage wallpaper prints. Inspiration comes from the lifestyle of the 50s beatnik movement, David Bailey’s photography from Berlin in the 60s, Leon Levinstein’s street style photos, and the iconic style of the eras’ leading ladies, including Jane Asher, Edie Sedgwick, and Jean Shrimpton.

Our girl takes on a modern bohemian vibe in lightweight vintage print dresses, pencil skirts with leather pockets, and airy blouses. July is soft with diaphanous dresses and blouses tucked into pleated mini skirts, an easy juxtaposition to a throw-on parka and sleeveless jacket. August shifts towards fall with longer skirts paired with the perfect leather bomber and 70s vintage print tunic dresses shown with a classic trench. Scarves are beaded and long for layering. Enameled jewelry is stacked on the arm with oversized marble print and ruby stone rings. For September, the palette turns to rusted brick and classic brown. Culottes feel fresh with burned out satin tee and faux fur trim cropped jacket. Accessories are effortless with crossbody brogue trim bags, long pendant necklaces, and wide brimmed felt fedoras.

The menswear collection is playing with proportions and creating lifestyle pieces to carry him throughout the season. The deconstructed blazer is a focal item, lighter in July in washed cotton and heavier in September in Italian wool. Tailored suits are offered in English and Italian fabrications with narrow lapels, slender legs, barrel cuffs, and shortened back lengths. Chino and washed Oxford shirt fits are slim. August introduces Indian madras shirting paired with ripped chinos and denim chore jackets. In September, heathered cotton shirting styled under boiled wool blazers with five-pocket corduroy pants reign supreme. Sweaters are presented in a variety of styles, from waffle mohair boucle cardigans to ribbed wool cashmere sweaters in berry tones. Knit ties are striped or plaid. Leather belts are braided and distressed.
