PRADA Menswear @ FW2015 Ad Campaign

PRADA Menswear FW2015 Ad Campaign is nothing more that is necessary. This New WAVE essence is captured in a series of austere, minimal portraits. Three of contemporary cinema's most idiosyncratic leading men lay themselves brae: Scoot  McNairy, Michael Shannon and Tye Sheridan. Craig McDean shot the actors in classic black and white against a stark studio environment. An Abstract, almost graphic space whose hints of depth come only in softly intimated shadows. Nothing interferes with the protagonists's bold, crisp silhouettes. McNairy, Shannon and Sheridan confront the camera directly. Their raw, statuesque poses break into impromptu theatrical gestures, a mood reminiscent of the 1960/70s photographic technique of outtakes, where cinema and music dared to break free from staged perfection.

Prada Men's FW15 utilitarian, industrial show-space is echoed in the collection. Elegant, clean outlines dominates, with details suggestive of uniforms. The palette is predominantly limited to black, blue and grey tones. A heavy use of black nylon, alongside textured fabrics and wool, invokes the inimitable Prada DNA. The photographs are studies of what it means to be an individual stripped of artifice. A New Wave intelligence and daring inwardness.
