Moncler Gamme Bleu FW2014/15 Collection

Moncler Gamme Bleu FW2014/15 Collection is opening up to women’s wear. It is the very latest addition to the Milanese fashion show for the men’s range designed by Thom Browne and also sending a range of debut women’s garments onto the catwalk. “Since it was first established in 2009, Moncler Gamme Bleu has combined the Moncler universe with the sartorial sensibility of Thom Browne”, explains Remo Ruffini. “Starting from the FW2014/15, Thom has pushed back the boundaries of his creativity to create a women’s collection as well”.

The universal language of the down jacket, which has managed to remain the undisputed leader of mountain clothing and win the hearts of cities at the same time thanks to garments interpreted with elegance, is now making another leap forward. Having overhauled the confines of technical clothing and rewritten the aesthetic codes of metropolitan jackets, Moncler’s first challenge for 2014 aims to redefine the whole genre.

Moncler Gamme Bleu draws inspiration from the exclusive world of Golf. For the set, Thom Browne has created a setting that conjures up the atmosphere of a Club House, reproducing English-style bookshelves in wood panelling. The basic motif of the collection is argyle, jackets with a contemporary silhouette and softer shoulders, and knickerbockers with quilting details also reproduced in argyle workmanship.

The women’s collection revolves around the sartorially refined argyle fabrics with constructed jackets worn over bermuda shorts, as well as softer garments such as the skirt pulled in at the hem to create volume. Classic pieces feature with a sartorial cut: outfits, sporting coats, Chesterfield coats, trench coats, capes, cardigans, polo shirts, trousers and shorts. An entire collection which includes outerwear, trousers, shorts, jackets, shirts and accessories,
all made entirely in argyle. This includes the neckties played out in shades of grey, red, white and blue, pink, green and black.

Wool fabrics, Oxford fabric, cotton jersey and cachemire, not to mention technical fabrics such as lightweight Cordura and Ripstop nylon, all of which are finished or see a diamond print. The collection is rounded off by the accessories: a golfing scarf with tees, socks, gloves and a gold argyle cap. All of which overcomes the style boundaries set for men and women: they are items which, conventionally speaking, belong to the mannish wardrobe, yet whose connotations are in perfect keeping with sophisticated women’s wear.

"For some time now I have been interested in the idea of interpreting Moncler Gamme Bleu for women as well. As with my eponymous collection, I am fascinated by translating my ideas in a masculine and feminine manner, and this is my interpretation for Moncler Gamme Bleu ", explains Thom Browne.
