The spa menu features a variety of options from total-body massages, focused treatments and signature therapies for a complete spa experience with customized treatments for sessions longer than two hours. From traditional indulgence, sound healing and a variety of signature massages, aroma hot stone, intensive muscle release to body scrubs and facial treatments for you to enjoy a deep relaxation, nourishing your body and find your inner peace.
The dark wood paneling colour scheme interior design has a colonial charm with wall of mirrors and old fashioned pendant lighting features in the treatment rooms, enlightened with some blue colour accents on doorways.
There is a residential feel to it with comfortable armchairs and table lamps and old fashioned door hangers, so the mood is one of subdued lighting to create that calming atmosphere that ties in with the colonial past of Malaysia old wooden houses.
The Spa reception features a series of boutique and signature products such as the reviving Aromatherapy Associates from London and the 111SKIN facial range. The moment you are escorted further in you begin to feel cocooned in an oasis that is all about ‘you’. Never let it be said though, that it isn’t just about the spa treatments, as the ambience plays a critical factor in the overall experience and focusing on the whole holistic process.
Protocols are essential for a good spa ritual and experience and choosing the oil that suits you is always part of the spa journey and then follow the tradition of the foot bath ritual is the very first step of immersion. The treatment room was had a very pleasing ambience and the spa beds were extremely comfortable, so it didn’t take long as you allow yourself to succumb to the magic hands of the therapists.
Our 90 minute Urut Melayu treatment was based on the concept of moving wind and works methodically and rhythmically to enhance circulation to restore balance. Long rhythmic strokes, kneading and the use of locally sourced aromatic scented oils. As our treatment began, the serenity of the ambience took over and the massage kicked-off without further ado and finally we gradually to let ourselves surrender to the world outside and be lulled into a state of bliss. The massage technique was soothing, with a relaxing and sensual approach of finding knotted muscles and then gently needling them with finger pressure points to exert some magic on the knots, the effect of which you could feel quite quickly.
It had been some months since our last spa treatment, so the knots were quite firmly entrenched and it took some coaxing to release them, so as the expression goes, ‘no pain no gain’ and we quickly began to feel the gain. Each masseuse was monitoring our comfort levels for the pressure at regular intervals once they realized the pressure we could take they let us drift off into a semi state of sleep.
The 90 minutes of bliss flew by and before you knew it they were gently ‘waking’ us to inform that the treatment had come to an end. You always tell yourself it is never enough, but this was the perfect length of treatment. The full suite of services delivers the most relaxing pamper sessions and to rejuvenate the body, mind and soul. We were left to slowly come to and fully awaken our bodies before being offered some warm tea and snacks to give some energy back to the body. Then it was back to the reality of the outside world. It was the perfect antidote to the buzzing metropolis outside and the pampering spa experience deeply relaxed and recharged.
