And that is our impression of 137 Pillars Suites & Residences Bangkok. With this our third visit since its opening in 2017, we just feel that we have returned to our ‘home’ in Bangkok. For all you regular visitors to Bangkok that like to dip your toes into the luxury hotel market, it doesn’t get much better than this.

Fancy the choice of two large infinity lap swimming pools atop the hotel with amazingly different Bangkok skyline views? Tick.

Fancy a rooftop bar with an uninterrupted vista of Bangkok skyline over some house signature cocktails and champagne for an unforgettable sunset? Tick.

Fancy a great street level pavilion-garden-bistro with a dramatic theme interior design that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner with food that is going to please all tastes? Tick.
Fancy a fine dining Thai & Asian inspired gastronomy? Tick.
Fancy an all day breakfast until 5pm? Tick.

So why stay here? Think large and modern contemporary designed 34 suites and 179 residences that are hard to leave, the convenient location in the serene upscale residential area of Thonglor sits on the vibrant Soi 39 in Sukhomvit without being on the main drag in a cool neighbourhood that has it all - local street food stalls, fine dining restaurants and chic designed cafes that are all within walking distance to ensure your staycation experience encompasses with a world leading standard of traditional hospitality and a lasting memories of its art of refined luxury living.

A short walk or with the residence’s eye-catching London Cab shuttle will take you to the bustling Phrom Phong BTS station - Tuk-Tuks are over-rated and who wants to traverse Bangkok in a taxi when traffic can be incredibly congested. With one of the deluxe shopping precincts on your doorstep - the EmQuartier and surrounds will connect you to all the major highlights in this sin city to satisfy your unlimited cravings in all sorts of ways, so it is all about location, location, location!

Of course, if you don’t wish to step outside the hotel, then everything is at your fingertips. The establishment touts themselves as “the best luxury address for business or pleasure” and it is hard to disagree. The Porte Cochere entrance of white marble columns is an architectural masterpiece finely combined with all the elements of refined luxury living.

We were escorted by one of the front desk teams - Genji - to our corner Ayutthaya Suite in a brisk friendly way, but with none of the intrusive niceties of standard hotel protocol. Inside our elegantly 95 sqm corner one bedroom Ayutthaya Suite we found a refined contemporary Modern Thai interior design with an emphasis on spaciousness and natural light packed with quality fittings and amenities.

The open-plan layout connects the spacious living room and dining area with rich wood cabinetry as well as a Maxi Bar and Wine Cellar, a well stocked pantry with local premium teas and coffee selection and walk-in wardrobe. The living area also has quite an array of gorgeous coffee table books that you will want to peruse at leisure.

The well equipped suites come with dramatic city skyline views with the expansive balcony for which you have a signature rocking chair and over-sized day bed to take it all in. The beautifully expansive marble bathroom features the signature 137 Pillars circular bathtub with built in television no less.

And then the luxurious suite amenities: Egyptian cotton bed linens that are silky soft, stylish and elegant; plush robes and slippers befitting such a brand; an extensive pillow menu; a premium brand luxury mattress that is absolute heaven to sleep on; a Bose sound system; Himalayan bath salts and Harnn toiletries and body care which are simply divine, So Thai yet So Good!

The lively Bangkok Trading Post serves a hearty breakfast. The all day dining for breakfast, lunch and dinner is certainly not to be missed. Breakfast is a semi-buffet affair and then you can order the given crafted a-la-carte menu with unlimited serving.

The western and Thai dishes are equally delicious and flavoursome, so you can indulge in local authentic Thai street food flavours, or if Egg Benedict is your preferred choice, then you will be served a perfectly cooked rendition of this all time favourite as well.

Several options of freshly squeezed detox juices are available every morning made to your liking and the pastries and garden herbs salad are spot on. This is a delightful way to start your day and with outdoor garden pavilion seating next to the koi pond is rather pleasant should the weather be amenable.

Head to the highest rooftop infinity edged pool in Bangkok is the perfect choice after breakfast for a relaxing swim or sun-downing by cocooning yourself in the cabana to unwind from the vibrant pace of the city.

If you prefer to stay ‘dry” physically, spend your time at the newly renovated classy Club Lounge and further indulge by snacking around or enjoy a lazy afternoon tea by flipping through the glossing magazines with attention to detail among other state-of-the-art facilities.

Otherwise, the pampering Nitra Serenity Centre aka spa that delivers the rejuvenate wellness aromatherapy treatments you have ever had is another must-try for your slow pace itinerary. With all that expedience, you possible wouldn’t want to leave the building.

Should you prefer not want to walk to explore the vibrant city, you may also enjoy Bangkok from the windows of Louis - the hotel's very own purple London Cab to connect to the nearest pick up and drop off point that is the USP for the brand and quite instagrammable!

We went back to Bangkok Trading Post once again as dinner is an equally delicious time to indulge. It is a very different atmosphere at night, which seems to give a more cosy environment and the designer lighting really creates a highlight without being too intrusive. They effortlessly bridge Western and Thai cuisines to delight the palate, so maybe dining out can be deferred to another day while you check this bistro out for dinner.

We slept like a baby on that mighty bed no doubt and we were left wanting for nothing in our most comfortable suite and were quite reluctant to leave on the day of checking out. The staff are incredibly welcoming and attentive and seemingly so calm at all times - yes, you would expect this, but it is not always observed in some other esteemed luxury hotel brands.

Bangkok has a plethora of luxury hotels that could easily spoil you for choice, but in such a bustling city as this, 137 Pillars Suites and Residences Bangkok stands out by offering an oasis of calm and serenity with all those luxury touches that you didn’t know you needed and strives to create an urban retreat where low-key chic and an unfussy air belie the artful polish. Yes, staying here Feels Like Home!
