Tommy Hilfiger Denim @ SS2014 Collection

Tommy Hilfiger Denim SS2014 collection is inspired by a road trip adventure across the alternative west coast. Hit the road with your best friends and discover the wonders of the west: sunrise surfs, bonfire BBQs, and days spent relaxing by the pool. From the Pacific to the Mojave, the look is all about bold patterns, bright colors, dip-dyes, bleached effected, ethnic influences and embellished denim always embracing the “preppy with an edge” Tommy Hilfiger Denim aesthetic.

The first delivery, Las Vegas, is inspired by the dazzling lights and sounds of Sin City. Graphic t-shirts are a key statement, as are reinvented “stars and stripes” prints with new color-blocking. Just like wild Vegas, there’s no shortage of sparkle, studs, beading, metallic threading and vibrant color: red, white and blue is the primary combination, offset by bright accents in green, yellow and Monaco blue. Wash effects further enhance these tones, including acid washes, bleaching and heavy over-tinting. For both men and women, new textures and patterns appear in woven shirts particularly Ikat weaving to give irregular yarn a dye effect. Prints are key, from camo, mini florals and geometrics to casino-inspired graphics that give a twist on card games. Viva Las Vegas!

The next stop on the trip is Los Angeles, where the Sunset Strip inspires bleached denim, ombré, metallics and studs. For both men and women, dye effects are popular; the look is influenced by eclectic styles seen throughout the City of Angels. For girls, festival chic is the theme – vibrant color mixes with prints, tie dye, checks and dots, while slim silhouettes are seen in bleached, dyed and studded denim. For warm Californian days there’s flirty dresses, colored denim, sparkling graphic tees and ombré tops. For boys, dip-dye or tie dye shirts and fleece further explore a retro vibe. On chillier days, opt for statement color-blocked outerwear and knit styles. Above all, indigo is king – the statement combines turquoise, mint, navy, cerulean and ultramarine, topped with accents of orange. Head-to-toe looks in the hue mix woven shirts, knitted fleece, sweatshirts, jersey, t-shirts, henleys and sweaters.

Santa Cruz is the final fashion group, where Tommy Hilfiger Denim soaks up the laid-back, nautical vibe of the city that overlooks Monterey Bay. Appearing predominately throughout the collection are stripes (engineered, color blocked and water colored), ikat patterns and denim-on-denim looks. As if plucked from the city’s famous boardwalk, bright neon tones in orange and yellow add a fresh twist – from stitch details to printed accents. For girls, it’s feminine but casual, with reinvented pastel shades, retro lace, washed-out plaids, bleached denims and playful florals. For boys, 1970s-inspired batik patterns make an appearance, mixing with lightweight linens and bleached cottons that pay homage to Santa Cruz’s laid-back vibe.
